Rusty, I had a similar issue with a cruiser 200 and again with a Chevy. Both times it was dirty fuel or water in fuel and both times I put in an extra filter which sorted it out. If it is a dirty fuel issue and you continue to drive it will do more damage.

Thanks for the heads up. :+1: Got a mechanic coming around Thursday morning to check things out. Not easy to get one at this time of year.

What do you do for work again ?
I drive a Hilux .. ?

Not much at all until the car is going or I get a replacement.

Clean the MAF ... it’ll take 10 mins and cost $3 for an aerosol of brake cleaner..

My 1990 petrol Pajero developed an extremely, extremely rough idle, stalling and cutting out after a service at Mitsubishi (who tried to blame my fuel injectors, but I pointed out that they had serviced them art the previous service)..
An investigation uncovered a BURNT VALVE was the cause - after replacing that valve it was back to normal

Sounds like your fuel to air ratio is out. If it starts fine then gets worse.
I’d start air then move to fuel as that is easier to harder fix. What happens if you just take the air filter off?

Someone got to add a bit of humour now and again, because there are a few sad sacks on here.

This is getting like a good mystery. I want to know how it ends.

Likewise. My knowledge of ICEs is limited so I just want to know the fix.

It's an injector pump. I'm off new (used) car shopping.

I have noticed used car prices increase since covid hit. Not the best time, but if you have to you have to.
