It's an injector pump. I'm off new (used) car shopping.

I have noticed used car prices increase since covid hit. Not the best time, but if you have to you have to.

Not ideal mate, but it's gotta be done. I just missed out on a sensational 2013 Amarok through stupidity. Good buys are out there. I won't screw up next time around

Next years Ford Ranges are going to use the Amarol’s motor, the new Mazda BT50 are being built in the Isuzu factory in Thailand with complete Isuzu motor and drive train.
The current 5 cylinder 3.2litre motor is absolutely crap.

Mate of mine had the 3.0 V6 turbo
DPF filter crapped out .
Front ABS sensors crapped out .
Front parking sensors crapped out and when overtaking another vehicle on the freeway his car would suddenly brake .
Always throwing engine codes of some sort ..
Major service was pushing 2k

I love my Hilux .. it’s the Ute that built this country ?

Mate not trying to tell you what to buy, but my dads mate owns a mechanic shop and he does road side breakdowns, he said almost 90% of his call outs are Volkswagons, and the majority are Amaroks, he also said steer clear of Jeeps as well. He regularly has an Amarok on the tilt tray, good for his business though

It all depends on the purpose of your vehicle and what you intend to do and then of course if you look after something correctly it will serve you well.
If I was to buy a new Ute today I would be going for the BT-50 and the Dmax. Isuzu is well known for reliability
NP300 navara is another good option, just depends on your requirements and future plans.

I appreciate all input. Not being overly mechanically minded, it's always a little daunting making the decision to purchase. The one i missed out on was a 2013 model, diesel, 8 speed auto with 6 months rego, 3 year warranty, was going to install a timing belt for me as apparently they're due every 105kms and steel tray, bullbar and was absolutely spotless inside and out. I've spoken to friends, sales guys, mechanics and had a pretty good idea that the Amarok was a good bet. More than happy to consider others. But I've only got 25-30k to spend tops. Im wanting something with around 150kms on it or less. Hilux's just don't fit into that category, Navarra's - Im told have their issues, BT50s, Tritons, Rangers are all on the table. Looking at a 2010 Ranger tomorrow around 25k with 120km or so on it. Really would like a 2012 or later model car if possible. Otherwise, I'll be looking at Pajeros again or Prados.

Would love an Isuzu, but not gonna fit into my budget Im afraid. Navarras make me nervous. I've heard very mixed opinions of them. Seems Navarra guys absolutely love them, but others are quite the opposite.

I owned a 2009 PK Ranger, sold it with 72000km on it when I got a another job which included a company Ranger. I can tell you that my Ranger was a great car, I would still own it if I hadn't changed jobs, and I sold mine for $20k in 2018. 25k is is a bit rich, but the car if looked after should last you a heap of years with only 120000km on it, plenty of torque, mine was a 5 speed manual and I used to get anything from 8.2 to 10.5 litres to the 100km depending on driving. Good luck with the search mate, I changed the oil and filter on all my diesels every 8 to 10000km, bought them online for cheaper than a retailer, and I have never had an issue with any of them, they included Pajero, Ranger, Fiesta, Polo, the later 2 being my daughters cars

A DMax is a good ute, great engine, maybe not the most powerful, but very reliable

I have a Navara the older one, but the new one isn’t that bad. Put the right gear on any new Diesel engine and it’ll last

Changing the oil and filter regularly is the best way to make your cars motor last.
We had a Nissan Skyline R30 changed to oil and filter every 5000Klms it had over 500,000 klms it when we sold it and it never let us down.

These types of vehicles have increased in price during Covid. I looked at it and for 25k the 2010 ranger wasn't for me. Rangers and Hilux have quite the rep of late. A few years ago all I ever heard was talk of Isuzus.
