Media Training/Speaking

I'm not bagging Luke Brooks here, but I really cringe when a mic is put in front of him. I feel for the bloke. He's like a deer in the headlights - he has no idea how to communicate . Does our club give the young guys training in this regard? And if so, can they do more for poor Luke. It's painful to watch and I'm sure equally painful from his perspective.

I agree i have the same cringe. The players however do get training but some are better then others. Look at young Josh Aloia for example he is great in front of the camera

Some are drawn to it and are natural, confident speakers. Brooks saves his talking for the field.

Didn't see the Fittler interview last night. I saw Andy Raymonds. I just think that the club needs to double the work they're putting into him in this aspect. I know it's not easy - I reckon most would find it difficult, but he's front and centre in the team. Maybe more interviews by the tigers guys in the sheds around the club. Once the networks get him in the tunnel or on field after a game there's nowhere to hide.

i agree. i admit i do find it _almost_ endearing - as he comes across very modestly which is great for a youngster - but he is very much a representative of the club and an obvious public face so should really get help in this area for both his and the club's sakes.
he seems a pretty confident young guy in general, but having more confidence in that situation can (surely?) only be beneficial in many other areas in life too.
he may do his talking on the field but he has a great opportunity to attract sponsors for himself and the club off of it, and with just a little bit of a "King's Speech" job he could actually be worth $600k a year!

anyone got Geoffrey Rush's number?!!

I like Brooks and I have no problems with how he talks. He doesn't come across as a knob and that is all it takes to keep me happy.

If I had the choice between him doing media training and football training, I'd probably pick football. I'd take a incoherent blubbering mess in front of the camera as long as he kicked good, tackled better and read plays the best.

Brooks reminds me of a young Israel Folau, or Anthony Milford when a mic is infront of him.

Young, very very Humble, and nervous.

I also find it endearing.

On a side note, watch Chris Lawrence in interviews, watch him talk to the referees, and then read his lips on the field… Two VERY different characters.

It's the same person but I did notice an f bomb last night from him. One of my favourite players and I thought the f bomb was great because it shows he has a hard edge.

A few weeks back he and .Moses were in Sterlo together. Moses was pretty good. But Brooks really struggled. Sterlo was very kind.

So what young Brooks is nervous in front of the camera who gives a crap..the key board warriors always amuse me you are all so wonderful!!.

Keyboard warriors - whatever snake. I feel for the bloke.

They put a lot of effort into that sort of stuff, but like everyone there are some things for all of us we struggle with no matter how hard we work at it.
For me im am the most unhandy person on the planet, no matter how much training I got I could never be a tradie… Luke Brooks will never have a career in the media ☺

The Ch. 9 commentary team need some media training. Did they have have serious technical issues last night? Just watching a replay now & they went quiet for what seemed like ages after every try we scored in the 1st half. Also instead of praising the Tigers attack they just kept harping about how flat Souths were. Pretty insulting really.

Hopefully he gets a lot more practice. If that is the case it will mean we are winning and he is playing well, that will do me.

Ch 9 are poor. Fox were fairly complimentary of us.
