Melb Storm: the gospel re contract negotiations apparently. WOW!

Cameron Smith and Bellamy are readily offering their opinions on the DCE contract balls-up. FMD. These 2 (Smith more than anybody) are the bigwigs in shonkiness re contracts. Absolutely laughable that these blokes have the audacity to even go anywhere near contract debates, must have very thick skin. DCE s an egotistical drama queen flog but doesn't have a patch on Smith when it comes to contract morals. Cmon Gunther, your comments?,I know you're waiting to go.

Melbourne felt so strongly against players switching between clubs, they developed a system to beat it…

The would be pretty good on this subject!

Melbourne Storm coach Craig Bellamy wants the NRL to scrap the controversial round-13 player contract clause. Under the current rules, players can negotiate their futures at any time but the NRL will register any new deal for the following season only after round 13\. This allows players a cooling-off period to change their minds and clubs the last right of refusal.

Chief executive Dave Smith says the NRL will review the current player transfer model in wake of speculation Daly Cherry-Evans was considering pulling out of his four-year-deal with the GOld COast Titans. Bellamy said the rule should never had been brought in. "I'm probably a bit old school but if you make a decision to go somewhere or to sign a contract about anything and then you get another 10 or 12 weeks to think about it, I don't understand that," Bellamy said. "I think he's (Smith) on the right track on hitting it on the head."

What the hell has DCE done wrong FTB ??

Your Melbourne hatred knows no bounds mate

Get over it , everyone else has

I haven't gotten over the storm's cheating either… or the bulldog's cheating for that matter. The fact that both teams won a comp 2 years after they were found to be cheating shows that they were not adequately punished.

As for DCE, I think it's ironic that he's so concerned about his "commercial worth", and yet he has continued to drive down that worth throughout his entire contract saga... shopping himself around in the public eye, appearing to be greedy with his sole focus on the $, and now potentially going back on his word.

Not really slanging DCE, but if u don't think he is playing Manly off against GC to get his best deal then you've got your head up your khyber, don't let your QLD love cloud your judgement. Hypocrites are my number 1 hate,Smith shouldn't be commenting on contract drama's, full stop.

I've played two competitors off against each other , hell I use to play my divorced parents off against each other to get better birthday and Xmas presents

The deal is done , he is going to the GC , ever thought Manly may have started all this crap to try and destabilise the GC FTB ??

I wish we could afford to cheat the Salary Cap :frowning:

I dunno Watto , your Tigers have cheated their fans for years with all those chokes in GF's

My team might be done and dusted but at least we won when we reached the GF more often than not

Happy - What you've done is different to playing off two NRL clubs in the public eye, where the collateral damage is the clubs, the fans, and the game

As if DCE gives a stuff about that. He's going to maximise his earnings as much as he possibly can. Most players sign their next contract as though it might be his last contract, DCE could snap his neck and not be able to play again.

I don't care so much about players trying to get what they can, their employment circumstances are far more volatile than the average Joe.

Happy, surely you aren't that gullible to fall for the whole DCE-WHOE IS ME crap fiasco. If he was hellbent just come out and declare in the media 'I am going to GC Titans next year, end of story. Nuff said'. He is carrying on like a sheila at the prom ATM, no sympathy here. Same goes for the Tedesco and Moltzen contract garbage that went on.

Smith and Bellamy weren't that strict on morals and ethics when Steve Turner back flipped on his Titans deal to stay at the Storm. I dislike this pair even more now.

I don't know DCE from a bar of soap , but I'm an old school type My word is my bond

If I was in DCE's shoes I wouldn't be constantly saying I'm going to the Titans in every interview that comes up either

He is in a lose lose situation

And with the Tedesco situation , their is a lot that many don't realize and Farah alluded to that many times at the time and since

I can tell you at 1.00 am the morning of James reneged Raiders signing , he was wanting to stay a WT for life

Most other players are able to go about it with a lot more class

I don't know DCE or Tedesco for that matter but from what I have seen in both cases it's the Managers Orr and Ayoub who are to blame.
It appears these young men are just doing what they have been advised by their managers.
On the other hand Foran is not paraded around and negotiations are done professionally. I don't even know who his manager is.
