The whole Melbourne thing irks me still.
The thing I hate is that they always claim like they assembled this side of guys who just happened to come together and they cheated so they could keep the players they developed.
It is a load of crap, Peter O'Sullivan who has made his name as a cheque book recruiter jsut offered the very best juniors more money than everyone else can afford and bought in the likes of Inglis, Hoffman and Cronk who were all huge stars and the best players of their age group.
They than bought in established players like Crocker and Finch on good money.
They cheated to assemble the squad and cheated to keep it.
Given that Cronk had a special clause in his contract to ensure all extras were included in the cap, he obviously assumed something was awry. I guess others did as well.
