Memories

As a fullback back in the 80's you knew it was coming ...if they got that bomb right .....and you couldn't look or shy away from it ...many people knock Billy Slater reaction with the foot / leg in the air ......but it would have been a smart way to protect yourself
Billy the cat. Fair enough if a FB can protect himself like that, but fair enough if the defence can spear him into the ground as well.
Soliola knew how to deal with Billy👍

If you go back further, it was relentless. Changa could time it perfectly. He could arrive at precisely the right time to do some dental extractions.
Do you remember Colin Scott’s last game?

I’m not a mental health expert, but I do think that by removing the coat hangers, short arm jabs etc from the game it will go a long way to reducing latent brain injuries.

No ...but if they'd seen Slater or Tedesco by that stage Changa wouldn't be an Immortal now ...he was a great player no doubt ...but the 2 mentioned have taken the position to a level he couldn't have dreamed reaching ...no one could have .......this is probably going to be controversial ...but Lockyer even exceeds Changa ...and it's not Changa's fault ....the fullback role has changed so much from those days .....even from the 90's it was completely different
I think if you read about Changa it was his will to win, determination and toughness that were as important as his skills. He was a very tough ombré in his day.
Who was it on here who said it’s very difficult to compare teams and players of different eras. Guys like Raper, Gasnier, Walsh etc were lauded for the way they played the game …..then, and for the results they achieved.
Let’s leave all these greats in the eras they came from and look forward to the new batch !
