Merrin and kennedy!

Ok guys,

Being realistic on acquisitions we could make.

I believe we have. A few probs in and around the Ruck. Especially when it comes to playing the top4 or the bench mark teams in our comp.

I truly believe Trent Merlin would be a great acquisition for our club.

I don't think price should be a problem.
We are operating way under the salary cap due to balmian leagues clubs failings. I believe he is contracted, but as st George is struggling currently. Maybe a Change in personnel is possible. He runs hard, great off load, creative forward. Makes a heap of tackles and hit ups. A forward that leads by example. Can play front row and seconds row.

Also while we are at it, might try and purchase Martin Kennedy, from the roosters, hard hitting, hard running forward who at the roosters currently has a lot of competition in the forward pack.

These 2 would completely change our forward pack….

There are some decent and cheap props in NSW cup at the moment. Faoso, Masoe, De Belin, Weston and even Rose would add depth to our club.

Buying fringe first graders is really just doing what we are doing at the moment

We need some experienced first graders who have some mongrel and will lead this pack with aggression

We have solid players , but none who put the fear of God into other sides

Agreed, would love merrin, especially as he adds some size and mongrel, I don't see why in the next few rounds we can't give our promising juniors some game time. Vela was looking to break into firsts last season ?
Any news on how he's going ?

Would Frank the Tank fit that bill Happy?

No not really Cunno ,my opinion of Frank is he is a flat track bully

Always worry about a player who only looks good when he plays the Tigers

The sort of player I'm talking about are the Kites.Myles,Hannants and Snowdens who are respected and feared by other forward packs

The sort of player that when the opposition gets the ball their first concern is where is that player in the defensive line and pumps out 150 plus metres most weeks (An enforcer)

We have no one like that

I was thinking more of mid season signings. Sure I would love a Matt Scott, Hannant, Gallen etc but a bench with any 2 of Faoso, Masoe, De Belin, Weston and Rose would help Galloway and Woods this season.

Not sure of their contract situations but how bout guys like Packer, Lillyman, Leahroyd Lars, Shillington and Tolman???

Merrin would be a gun buy he is a great player looks head & shoulders above anyone in dragons side. He would give us great aggression we so desperately need.

Yeah don't know what's going on with DeBelin, he was one of the Dragons' best last year. Maybe something happened in the off season we don't know about?

Would take both Merrin and Kennedy in a heartbeat, but I think we're all dreaming, unfortunately. Those clubs aren't gonna let them go without a fight. If St George lost Merrin they'd have nothing left!

You're talking about signing an Origin player who you admit is under contract for a team who doesn't have a whole hell of a lot going for them and he's probably their most valuable player at present. That isn't too realistic

Do you actually watch games Merrin has carried Saints so far,and Kennedy is underated.

Merrin's a talented footballer, whether at prop or lock(?). Would be in excellent pick up - imagine him and Woodsy…together for the next 5 years or so.

Your all missing the point, if its not a desirable club and no chance of winning a premiership, why would you change teams. Yeah money is a big factor, one which we don't have. Look at the guys that are at Melbourne and the Broncos, they are on less money there as they believe they can win a premiershipo and they love the club and the enviroment it provides. The Tigers need to make themselves apealing that players want to play for the Tigers. Then when we achieve that, the good players will come. What was the saying, "Build it and they will come". Get approval to build the Balmain Leagues Club development, start chipping in with the funding and sort the board out. Look like we're in charge and has a direction, then fans and players will come. This is my opinon. Oh yeah, would love both Merrin and Kennedy!

Merrin would be great, he is the Drag's best forward by a mile. I have only seen Kennedy play 2 good games TBH and they were both against the sub-standard pack of ours.
