Michael Maguire leaves club

2 to 3 months of “ grooming” while he was in esl. Some meetings. Just kept on and on until he gave in.

Normally it’s a no and we run for cover!

When Madge and Jackson were waiting for Jackson’s luggage at the airport, Jackson could see his bags had been opened… and the next things he saw on the carousel emerging from behind the curtain was his man of steel boot… followed by Gildart.

Madge wants to go before Gildart catches up with them, but all too late.

A gentle dig at the pom, I wish him well…and Gildo too.
Merlot your ghost writer?

Morris came into the NRL unexpectedly as an interim coach following the departure of Shane Flanagan. Prior to that, he coached the Sharks U20s team in 2016 and 2017.

Morris helped establish the Sharks Pathways Program in 2015 and some of his graduates include Will Kennedy, Blake Brailey, J. Brailey, Briton Nikora, Bronson Xerri, Ronaldo Mulitalo, Kyle Flanagan. Morris was also responsible for bringing Jesse Ramien across from Manly to play in his U20s team. This is an impressive record.

He got the Sharks to two final series despite having to deal with the scandal which plagued the club , salary cap constraints, the egos of some aging stars and the retirement of Paul Gallen in 2019. Most would agree he did very well

Morris' proven record of bringing juniors through the Sharks Pathways into the NRL multiple times must be particularly attractive to Sheens. Your throw away line about Maguire matching or surpassing Morris' achievement if he had the same roster is misplaced. I don't believe Maguire has demonstrated the capacity to bring juniors through via Pathways as Morris' record does. Many of the players you listed are from Morris' Pathways.

PS. I believe Connor Tracey and Luke Metcalf may have been part of the junior programme as well.
Paws...we have the new bloke from Cricket Australia to help with Pathways and other stuff dont forget, and there is nothin wrong with that.
I feel you are digging a bit to deep when you accuse @Cobarcats of putting Maguire before Wests Tigers and I'm disappointed as I thought You were better than that.
John Morris did well in the NRL period. He also did extremely well with Pathways.

Cobarcats and TT, Sheens has instituted Pathways at WTs so it is a big deal for our club. This comes back to my earlier comment about you putting the interests of Maguire ahead of WTs.

If you look at our trajectory since Maguire took over it is heading in one direction. Our players are regressing.

Sheens has said in more than one communication pathways for our juniors is our future. Morris and Ciraldo both have excellent records with junior development. The irony of what Cobarcats wrote is the Sharks' squad to a large extent is the result of Morris' pathways initiative. He then advised if Maguire had the same squad he could get the same or similar results! It begs the question why don't we do the same by employing Morris or Ciraldo as the NRL coach? WTs before the individual.

Unlike before him, Since the arrival of our maestro, Sheen has certainly kept things on low profile, the recent surprising and good signing of B Naden is a good example

I'd like to also add,
Had Sheens been here before, there would have been no way in the world that he would have accepted that ridiculous doco. The Fox League's Wild Wests documentary.

Because this type of doco. would be more suited for a succesful club and not a club who is rebuilding and has been failing for the past decade.

100 percent, the blokes in power before sheens have no clue about footy.

I can’t be too critical of the Board in this regard. Sure, it may have been an attempt to compete with the Bunnies at the Hollywood glitz, but I think the prime motivator driving this blockbuster was Madge, the man, the legend, and the club simply wanted to do some chest beating and tell the world they have finally got a very good coach.

I thins line of thought we shoudk hire John Morris as an under 20s coach then give him the top job in a few years

You'll say absolutely anything to suit your narrative...

That Sharks pathways have been in place and strong for a long while...
Every few years they have a great crop come through!!
To claim those pathways as a Morris initiative is a fair old stretch.

I find it comical, That I've been here for years and now that there's a plan and people in place
to support our pathways (After having nothing for years) all of a sudden they're mentioned 10 times a day - Years of barely a mention, Now we're finally sorting them - They're hot topic.

And every wannabe coach is single handedly responsible for pathways they're involved in and that makes them a head coach

The Sharks Academy was formed in 2015 and John Morris was one of its founders. Here's a link to background information. Those of us who live locally in the Shire (it is a short walk to the ground and Academy next to Cronulla High) have been well-aware of its existence since its foundation and John Morris' involvement . The results speak for themselves.

If you look at just these 4 games on the weekend, some people are blaming Sean Johnson for the Warriors poor performances this year because he is affecting Reece Walshs game....Browns fault or an aging Johnson..?
Raiders played very well against the Roosters ...YET at the begining of the season were almost write offs..better coaching or player attitude adjustment..?
Bulldogs go down to the Riff, but Burton in the 5/8 role stood out again,JAC played much better and they are still not sure if Flannagan is the right choice 1/2 back...interim coach doing his best with a squad that needs adjustments...
Cowboys steaming ahead this year with few injuries and finally sorting the team out..good coaching yes good squad yes..
Titans are an absolute basket case to try and work out, some good players, reasonable coach and they constantly under perform...poor coaching or poor player attitude ..?

Im just saying that there are many reasons that teams have poor results, what I have said above are just my observations of 4 games,so in respect to our TEAM, can we honestly say that Madge is the one and only reason that we have lost games.?no in my opinion, injuries, youth, attitude and depth have all had an impact on us this year,if Madge does go then some need to have a hard look at themselves from players through to ADMIN and Board....

Fair play....
I stand by what I said,
Been plenty of players of quality come through over the years down there...
I remember them being strong in junior reps around that time - Maybe earlier.

Crops of great kids seem to come through together and that crop was great, Have they matched it since?

Clearly despite his association with the pathways programme at Cronulla they didn't rate him as a head coach because they dumped him even with a talented roster work with.

He got the Sharks to two final series. I wish our standards were as high!

I agree the Sharks' roster is talented and many are graduates of their Academy.

Better resourcing is a factor, but there are factors as well. This is the second review in six months. The Ciraldo rumours are still circulating.
And rumours that Maguire was sacked at the end of last year were running hot too as well as all the players we are supposed to have signed - more untruths in rumours than truths.
I'm not adverse to Ciraldo if it happens but I have no illusions to the fact that he won't win anything with the current squad either and the fairytale rise he had had at Penrith is not what he is going to be faced with here. Hence let Maguire do the dirty years - the players we do have support him - and hopefully these Pathways may start to show some fruition for who ever the next coach is.
