I honestly don't know that there is a coach out there that can turn this club around.
Failure and mediocrity seems to be a part of our fabric and I don't know who can change it, let alone how they would do it.
Each year I approach the season with optimism, this is the year the drought ends. And after our offseason recruiting drive the forum shared that optimism. I didn't expect us to beat the Raiders or the Roosters, but I genuinely didn't expect to see them give up so early in the year.
I feel sorry for Madge. He sees the bigger picture and what is wrong with the club, but for whatever reason he can't get the group to bring that to fruition on the field. In saying that neither could Cleary, Taylor, Potter or even Sheens consistently.
It's frustrating to watch other teams go on a spending spree over the offseason and turn things around in one year. I feel like we've been going around in circles trying to do the same thing for the last 10 years.
I don't know what it will take to fix us. Maybe Madge is the man for the job, maybe he isn't. But I don't think sacking him 2 games into a contract extension is smart business.
Actually , you right only because the coaching talent pool these days is pathetic (not player pool ) and I see McGuire as just another Bellamy clone
How do you expect a coaches who are clones of the top coaches to excel with inferior talent to the top sides .. they cannot
You need a coach that has different temperament, different philosophy and skill set to excel at the tigers .
Sheens won comp as was his own man
I see hoolbrook at titans , had varied Australian experience and did his own thing in England and you could see the titans improve as the season went on last year .
Holbrook was just interviewed on NRL 360. If things don’t work out with Madge that the style we need. Honestly though who found a guy like that, that thinks like that? Watching the Building Titans it appears it was Steve Mitchell and he even called one of his former players from the cowboys who was playing in the ESL under Holbrook and asked him his opinion of the coach. ‘Lachlan Coote’ BTW.
