I don’t mind Brooks, but he’s not very good value for his coin at the moment. He takes awhile to warm into the season. I don’t know why.

I’m disappointed that Madge hasn’t ingrained much resilience in the side. We look at our toes too early and too often. They don’t seem to listen to him.

New assistants seem to be creating a small lift in areas, but the mental side is lacking.

I wish I had a solution. It’s a tough start for us. We desperately need a few wins to get us going.

On the plus side, the loss against the storm against their starting side of almost full power, definitely showed a pulse, especially considering our humble and much less fancy and illustrious line up.

A win this weekend would do a hell of a lot for all concerned. I want to see a do or die effort.

The squad doesn't stack up against the other sides...
We've got the best players we could get with the money available we had at the time - There's a lot that goes into getting quality players to the club, and becoming competitive...
The coach is further down that list than everyone here seems to think.

I think we're on the right track - With management, football dept. coach and the stock coming in / going out. We've been trying the bandaid solution for the best part of 20 years...
We're finally holding our cards a little and making smarter decisions.

Who knows what other choices they have?

And just because plenty do, It doesn't mean they prefer to...
Given the choice, Why would anyone?

I have family around there, They are nice areas....
But no one is picking them over being close to the coast.

Especially a millennial with large amounts of disposable income.

Take away all the cheap shots from the media [and the forum] and the adversity we've been faced with in injuries and suspensions, I'm actually feeling for the first time in years that this club will rebuild.
We are not panicking like we've done in the past.
We are keeping a tighter rein in football management matters which I think is related to Pascoe disconnecting from the football side of things and the introduction of Sheens and 2 new assistant coaches.
I feel more confident that when we are back to full strength we'll be able to limit the opposition to 2 tries a game which I couldn't say the same for us last year.
I always wonder what could have happened if Sheens and Cayless and co came to the club a year earlier to support Madge.
If we had to get rid of Madge it should have been before 2022.
I fear that this rebuild could fall on it's face if we sign a new coach too late.
Madge needs another 2 signings [which could happen shortly] and his team to be firing late in the season to give the side momentum going into 2023

That's the thing isn't it. I don't care who is coach but we need to win 50-75% of our last few games this year to give us confidence next year. Give Douhie and Hastings a run together. Try a few things. This year was going to be a 12-16th season anyway so I want to see genuine change.

Agreed. I want to see the coach try some options out throughout the year. This squad isn't great and we have a lot of players out right now but we have Doueihi, Hastings and Utoikamanu to come back this season. We also have Talau and Kepaoa out.

Madge will get the chance this season to try some things.

I sort of feel we are crud but it doesn't take much to turn it around.
 
Like every other year, the 2022 preseason filled many WT fans with hope of an improved year on 2021. Yep it sucks we are 0-3 and running last on the ladder, it sucks that the media just love putting sh*t on the WT and in particular Madge. The worst thing the club did in 2021 is that Tiger town series that shone the club in a poor light. Many here and in the media are calling for Madge's head. I am not one of them. With a bit of luck we could be 2-1; we need to face up to the fact our roster is weaker than many of the other clubs and to compete we must have our best players on the field. With 10 or so of our better players injured or unavailable, its unrealistic to expect us to win many games. If we compete in games, its just as good as a win and in 2 of 3 games so far we have been competing!...What the WT need is not a new coach, but a better roster and Sheens and co are working on this for 2023+. If Brooks is to be our long term halfback HE needs to show that this year, if not he should move on in 2023. As for the remainder of 2022, realistically our chances of playing finals footy are slim, but who knows how we will perform when all our injured players are back. The answer for the WT is not to sack Madge, but to stay solid and develop a stronger culture of resilience within the playing group, continue to recruit for 2023+ and things will slowly turn around....We've been down this path many times, what has let the club, fans and supporters down is a lack of patience...we can't afford to do the same mistakes in 2022..

At the end of the day with the team we have, the Warriors were the only team I expected them to beat. So id of thought we would be 1-4 to start the year.

Kepaoa I'm keen to see again. Thought he was going really well at centre.

Though apart from Stefano we do not have a front rowers who make decent metres. We need to make a big play for two who can help Stefano.

Sean you will see change because AD is coming and I'm sure it wasn't in Madge's plans for him to get injured.
Last year our for and against was disgusting.
Change number one;
get a different D coach in via Cayless, thus far I think our middle D is really good - sure it wasn't in Madge's plan for Stef and Blore to get injured either.
We needed to bring along youngsters.
Change number 2;
The likes of Seyfarth developing nicely - I'm sure it wasn't in Madge's plan for Liddle to be injured so Simpkin had to be rushed in.
We needed fresh blood.
Change number 3;
Recruited internationals Hastings and Gildart who are slowly finding their feet and show promise - I'm sure it wasn't in Madge's plan for Hastings' suspension.
We've signed 2 quality players next year with more to come I'm sure.
Finally the house is getting in order and building a team and all Forum members want to do is stop it by sacking the coach and ½ back when we are reeling from injuries and suspension.
 
I will just make a point in regard to where players live and where the club that is interested in signing them is located....
the best way I can say this is...if the player wants to play in the elite NRL as a rugby league player in whatever position,and is given a very,very good offer and contract,he would decide himself to move or travel to that club...Im sure if he was offered 700/800kfor 3 yrs he would certainly make the effort to get to training and playing for that club,many players travel from all parts to play NRL...there is plenty of time to relocate to the beach after retiring from the game,if they have kids then they have to decide whats best for them and the partner....
There is lots to consider if your a family man,but if you want to play NRL and earn big money,then you will make it work.....

TT, for many players the decision also includes family and where they live. NRL players are away from home often so their home locality, childcare and quality of life are important. This is especially so when competing for a signature with bigger clubs such as the Roosters.

I don't think our middle forwards are that bad. Stef, Musgrove, Mikaele, Joe O, Twal, Seyfarth & Tamou are decent players.

I think we've been expecting Twal to step up and become a dominant middle forward. He hasn't done that so far. Musgrove and Mikaele have an impact but also makes mistakes. Stef hasn't been great this year and now he is injured.

Joe O, Tamou and Seyfarth have been decent.

We aren't getting on top of other teams though are we.

It's like the whole team is close but not good enough.

I do think the coach has to get more out of this group. It feels like we are building a better squad with room to move in the cap but we haven't seen the coaching staff get the players to perform as a group.

Cleary felt the opposite way.

Taylor just felt like a complete mess. I was thinking maybe he wasn't that bad but he made the situation worse long and short term.

Did it ? The top teams look to have come back a tiny bit. The bottom teams except us have improved.

Next year looks a little better but only if they get a lot more out of what we have now. They also need some more signings because we've lost 2 good backrowers.
