Michael Maguire leaves club

I don't think our middle forwards are that bad. Stef, Musgrove, Mikaele, Joe O, Twal, Seyfarth & Tamou are decent players.

I think we've been expecting Twal to step up and become a dominant middle forward. He hasn't done that so far. Musgrove and Mikaele have an impact but also makes mistakes. Stef hasn't been great this year and now he is injured.

Joe O, Tamou and Seyfarth have been decent.

We aren't getting on top of other teams though are we.

It's like the whole team is close but not good enough.

I do think the coach has to get more out of this group. It feels like we are building a better squad with room to move in the cap but we haven't seen the coaching staff get the players to perform as a group.

Cleary felt the opposite way.

Taylor just felt like a complete mess. I was thinking maybe he wasn't that bad but he made the situation worse long and short term.
Our post contact metres would be nearly the worst in the comp. The forwards have a go but they aren't making the metres.

Also it's irritating as hell that we don't have a Cameron Murray type player who can do a dart on the 4th tackle, get on his front and play the ball fast so our kickers have more time to get a good kick away. Need a lock.

The aren't too many locks of Murray's quality around. But this is on Maguire because he prefers a prop playing lock so the five hits and a bomb strategy can really be given the opportunity to work. It hasn't and we're in our fourth year so it appears he won't be dissuaded.

Another article is floating in the telegraph just now about the board blocking Madge from doing his thing.
Something is definitely brewing at Concord. Someone is getting the hatchet.

Sean you will see change because AD is coming and I'm sure it wasn't in Madge's plans for him to get injured.
Last year our for and against was disgusting.
Change number one;
get a different D coach in via Cayless, thus far I think our middle D is really good - sure it wasn't in Madge's plan for Stef and Blore to get injured either.
We needed to bring along youngsters.
Change number 2;
The likes of Seyfarth developing nicely - I'm sure it wasn't in Madge's plan for Liddle to be injured so Simpkin had to be rushed in.
We needed fresh blood.
Change number 3;
Recruited internationals Hastings and Gildart who are slowly finding their feet and show promise - I'm sure it wasn't in Madge's plan for Hastings' suspension.
We've signed 2 quality players next year with more to come I'm sure.
Finally the house is getting in order and building a team and all Forum members want to do is stop it by sacking the coach and ½ back when we are reeling from injuries and suspension.
You're making too much sense today Cobar. Some are just impatient, and as soon as you mention that, they trot out the old "you accept mediocrity " line.

Big changes take time. If anyone thinks the squad is exactly what Maguire wanted, they are imbo's. He got what was best available at the time. Things have changed, and are still changing. Finally he allowed to be coach without the rest of it. Finally Pascoe is back in hs office and being quiet like he should be. Finally we have a football Manager to do all that media and other stuff. Finally we have some pathways being developed.

For some, getting rid of Maguire is the only option. Its just silly thinking. If I have a car with 4 flat tyres, I dont keep changing the steering wheel every three years and expect it to start handling like a Ferrari!

We are coming 3rd last behind the Sharks and Raiders.

A big difference in signing the players that are available to you to, compared to the players you want. Trent Robinson is the coach of a side that signs the players he wants- evident by the amount of quality signed while still remaining under the cap.

OK Ive got a book going on how many times the cameras will pan to
Madge in the coaches box during tonites game...every penalty against, every
forward pass & knock on will be more invisible media knives into his back

1-3 times ~ 6/1
4-7 times ~ 7/2
8-12 times 5/4
13-16 times ~9/2
17+ times ~ 8/1
