Wests Tigers NRL Head Coach Mick Potter has praised the mentor role Kiwi international Adam Blair is providing to some of the younger inexperienced forwards at the Club.

Potter says Blair has taken promising forwards Sauaso Sue, Ava Seumanufagai, Taqele Naiyaravoro and Jack Buchanan under his wing during the pre-season.

“Adam Blair is proving to be a mentor to the front-row and back-row players. He trains like he plays and that is rubbing off on those younger guys,’’ Potter said.

“There is no fuss about Adam, no flair or anything. He just does his job and does it the best he can and it is a solid day’s work for him. He works very, very hard and makes everyone around him accountable.

“When you divide players into smaller groups, Adam is a leader of those teams. He makes the players lift and he gets them to play their best.

“His communication skills on the field are excellent and are one of the best in the squad. One valuable pieces of the jigsaw puzzle of playing rugby league at the top level is that you need to be a really good talker. Adam is excellent.

“However Adam is just one of the many players in the squad who are helping us to get better. The more people we have like that, the better we will be.”

I hope hes not training like he played last year

like everyone on here i hope he has a fantastic year in 2013 and shows us what hes made of!

at least with the salary cap increase, the amount we're paying blair doesn't seem like overs any more. unless of course he had a clause in his contract about getting paid more if the cap goes up.

well if thats the case you can pencil in Adam Blair as a starter in the pack with Farah, Galloway, Woods and Anasta. Room for just one more.

Hope this makes him feel more at home - and its shows in his footy…... lots of talk last year about where he was from and the structure there, and the difficulty fitting into where he is now....might be just what he needs

Having Adam as a leader and professional off the field was one of the touted advantages of him coming to the club. Its good to hear a new coach praise him in that regard.

I get the feeling Blair could be a real dark horse for us this year, he obviously struggled last year and is a better player than what he showed. The measure of him will be how he responds.

Clean slate for 2013!

If he plays to his ability he wil be well worth it.

He seemed to thrive under a structured and strict coach like Bellamy. Potter seems to be of a similar mould, so hopefully he can get the best out of Blair.

Clean slate for 2013!

Even last season many of the younger players were saying how much Blair was helping them off the field

As many others have said hopefully he can settle into a good season in 2013

I still see him as a future captain of the club

I'm pretty confident we'll see a much improved Adam Blair this season. I think the change of coach and a bit more structure and grunt among the forward pack should suit Blair.

I think the change of coach means everyone starts from scratch as far as leadership roles go. No pre-conceived ideas or pandering to egos. Good on Adam for taking on a role to strengthen our forwards in terms of their development as players and as young men. For mine, Galloway is the one who needs to stand up with a bit of mojo this year. Blair will relish a new coach in a still new environment for him. Go Adam. Aim up Keithy!

Adam Blair is twice as good a player than the player that we saw last year….We were what I would call a disorganised rabble with no visible plan or structure to most of our plays in attack or defence. I don't expect miracles from Potter this year but I truly believe that we have a decent roster of players and that he will use them wisely. :sign:

x 2 .. could not agree more with these comments. blair is probably over some injury concerns from last season and i reckon we will see the real adam blair this season. mate of mine had a chat with the sauce at the rocks on oz day and sounds like the vibes coming from the team are really positive. :sign:

Spot on,Sheens tried to change Blair, got him leaner and tried to change his style,Potter won't fall into that trap, and with players accountable for their spots,Blair will be great for us.

Adam Blair could well replace ellis if he fires , he can be very dangerous player just like Ellis was for us , im thinking he will fire and be right at home this year , look out 2013 here we come
