Miller dumped to NSW Cup, Anasta to 6

People are kidding themselves if they think Miller will be back. IMO he won't play first grade again this year. Sad really.

I agree, I can't see how this will do his confidence any good given he's been dropped before.

If they dont see Miller as the long term solution, which they prob dont, I think they have decided that Brooks is the Man for 2014 and beyond, why bother spending the year with a rookie making rookie mistakes and learning his trade when we have a guy who will give tradesman like performance in the role without shooting the lights outs.
I get the thinking and see the move as the safe option.

Question: I heard Braith cannot pass left to right well.

I think you may have him confused with Zoolander.

Wonder how much influence Farrah had in this shift. He did give Miller a few mouthfuls last week. Feel sorry for the kid. But that's 1st grade. I'd be interested to see how hed go under a halves coach. Someone like Johns in his ear at training. Guess that may never happen now.

I'm glad Potter has been making changes and at least trying different things.
- Utai - gone
- Miller - need more games under the belt
- Teddy - on the wing, keep the heat on Moltzen
- Bodene - had a crack at NSW Cup and then put up to see how he goes

The above and more puts the team on notice that he's going to mix it up and look at different combinations to find the best outcome, and yes there will be collateral damage.

I laugh at the negative comments about the changes….I remember reading a lot of the same negativity when Sheens sent out the same 17 week after week.........

I'm with you priest. At least Harry is mixing it up a bit.

I really dont mind the concept of Braith at half,he surely isnt a backrower, and Bodene was killing it in the trials.

And he is giving Teddy another go,I like that.

If we lose to the Storm, even though I know we are then Potter has lost my support. What is the difference if Sheens was here?

You will be losing support for a lot of coaches then if there accreditation is judged on playing the melbourne Storm. If potter gets us a win this week with his cattle vs the storms cattle he deserves the victorian cross and the nobel peace prize by the end of the week.

I think its a case of not putting the lamb to the slaughter. It wouldn't surprise me if Potter is sitting Miller out cos of who the opposition is. We need experience to compete down there and Miller doesn't have it and a bad performance could destroy his confidence. I think Potter is putting him in cotton wool this week. Not saying I agree but the motive is a plausible one

it had to happen,Anasta is wasted as a second rower, something had to be done :righton:

You aint seen nnnn nn nn nothing yet ohhh b b b baby

yes the rosoters fans are laughing at us even more now that it only took 4 weeks to get Bwaith back in the halves, You only have to see how much they have imporved this year with a 5/8 that actually trys hard even if he isn't great.

Its one thing to be a pessimist, its another to get enjoyment out of it. We're all pessimists at times but you take it to another level. I dare say you would rather get proven right just so you can come back and gloat. I'm predicting some kind of ''told ya so'' thread around 9 o'clock Monday night, id bet my life on it. Pathetic

We are 2/2 in '13 with a rookie half and rookie NRL coach

God help us if we are making long term decisions based on 4 weeks and a youngster just out of the u/18s

Better to assume the worst and be wrong than assume the best and be wrong. Pessimism will keep you alive, optimism won't.

Don't know Hybrid ,is this aimed at Miller or Anasta ??

Maybe Potter is saying to Anasta "Your crap as a back rower and if you don't play well in the halves ,there's the door don't let it hit you on the ass when you leave "

Potter I know is trying to pick a team to win ,but he is also sizing up who stays and who goes at the same time

This week he is in a win win situation ,no one is expecting us to beat the Storm so he has some reins to try things

I'm just wondering if Potter wants to see how Miller goes in a team without Benji and Farah calling the shots. It'll be interesting to see which way Potter goes next week, regardless of the result this week. If he plays Anasta at half again next week, it's probably a good indication that he isnt convinced on Miller. If he puts Miller back in, Potter was looking at something else that we can only speculate at.

I'm sure Potter has spoken to Miller and either told him to be patient and keep doing what he is doing or he's given him advice on what he needs to work on and given him time in NSW cup to do that.

I'd rather sit back and wait and see how things develop over the next few weeks. It's comical yet frustrating how some of you blokes are quick to jump to conclusions as if everything was simply black and white. You have to remember, Mick is a rookie NRL coach who inherited a team. He was the best coach available and I'm confident he is the right man for this club. If this was his 3rd or 4th year, some of the criticism thrown his way so far would be warranted but this is his 5th game and he's 2/2\. I think he's doing alright considering some of the other new coaches who inherited teams like Stuart and Elliot.

I remember when Warren Ryan dumped a certain halfback to reserve grade because he wanted him to work on his defence. That halfback put the work in over a couple of months and then returned to the firsts. His name was Steve Mortimer. Jacob may well have had a few things pointed out to him by Potter that he needs to work on in order to improve his overall game, and obviously it'll be easier for him to do that in NSW Cup. Good on Potter for seeing a kid's shortcomings and being prepared to drop him down a grade to work on these deficiencies in the hope that he'll be better prepared if or when he gets another crack at NRL.

I am happy with the move. Like many a young gun before him, Miller didn't seem ready to play with Marshall and Farah.

Anasta has been non-existent in the second row, let's see if he can be more serviceable in the halves. I reckon he kicks the ball better than Marshall anyway.

So does Miller, but he didn't get to do much, if any, kicking while Marshall was on the field. Benji will want to do the kicking, because it is one way for us to promote the ball rather than run sideways.

@Boonboon2 said:
Better defence, better kicking game, more experience, better attacking skills -I'm not sure what miller could offer over this option which was always my preferred option from when we signed Anasta.

Miller will IMO never play Nrl again.

I think our next halfback will be brooks or Sironen

Well …. maybe not for the Tigers again. Miller would be a better choice for the dragons than their last attempt.

Hope Potter has sent him to get confidence and fix a couple of issues. He needs to send Benji there once sirro is right. Give him 1 game in reggies and see how he bounces back. Sirro or anasta to cover. I'd love to be a fly on the wall when he would tell Benji this? WHat do you think?

very condescending tone you've taking here.
listen to me, how foolish to describe a 200 game half with a dozen origin as a trades man, how over the top of me.
I'm very happy to stand by any wrap of Brooks ive made. it is far from stupid for the club to I invest in the best school boy in the country
