Not every player makes a seamless transition to first grade like DCE. Plenty of good halfbacks took their time and went up/down between grades a few times.

Maybe Miller won't get there in time for us, but I think he will carve a good career out elsewhere.

DCE? i thought potter said he went up and down between grades too so i checked wikipedia: "Before the 2010 NRL season, Cherry-Evans was in competition with fellow rookie Trent Hodkinson to be Manly's first choice halfback following the departure of 2008 premiership halfback and club captain Matt Orford to the Bradford Bulls in England. Manly coach Des Hasler chose Hodkinson which meant that Cherry-Evans played in the Queensland Cup for Manly's then feeder club the Sunshine Coast Sea Eagles. After captaining the team for most of the season, Cherry-Evans was named the Queensland Cup Player of the Year, and Rookie of the Year. His performances in the side saw him selected to the Queensland Residents team where he was also named team captain."

By seamless transition I mean once DCE come into first grade in R1 2011 he cemented a spot nearly straight away and never looked back. He hasn't gone down a grade since debuting.

Not everybody has that sort of track record.

As of end of last year Potter stated Miller was going no-where, and he had plans for Miller. He started this year along side Marshall. Any one know what happened?

Yes, he didn't take control of the team,
He also didn't take on the line enough to square up defenders.
Potter said that this was the reason for Anasta coming in.
And he was dropped to work on it in prems

And Anasta ticked none of these boxes either, time for Brooks or Moltzen to have a go.

If that's what our options have come down to, it surely must be Moltzen's turn. Brooks performance was underwhelming in the U20s SOO game, to the point where even the commentators were calling for him to do something and at least take the line on once.

We are not privy to all that goes on behind team scenes. If for whatever reason Miller thinks he is not getting a proper go at the top grade then he will almost certainly move on, he has always seemed like an ambitious and at times impatient player.

I dont think he's been given much of a go either

4 or 5 games where the team was struggling….if this is all he gets then we may as well look for a top notch established half......ANY rookie will struggle in our squad

The kid is just another jake mullaney he will never make it here or anywhere else he is to slow in everything he does and just doesn't look like a first grader and you can tell just after 8 games. Look at Adam Reynolds from the time he came into first grade he has gone from strength to strength.

If Adam Reynolds is the benchmark you are going to judge all first grade rookie halfbacks on, you are deadset off your head.

Reynolds is a freak.

Never said he was the benchmark but from the first time he came into first grade he made a impact where as miller has done sweet f–k all and never will. I didn't see dce get dropped or Peter Wallace, Mitch Pearce and so on. So you can have your head up your backside and wait for miracles.

People need to give the kid a go, he is 20!!! 15 years ago if you were a full time first grader by the time you were 23 you were doin well. I think it is ridiculous that after a couple of average games, where he was obviously being over called, everyone has given up on him

Exactly.
For a supporters forum there isn't much support for its players.

Pearce and Wallace took normal career paths, positional changes/benchings/drops etc. Check it out.

Hear the point being made….stop comparing regular young players to someone like Adam Reynolds, Reynolds is NOT a traditional career path, the kid is a freak.

Its like bringing a new forward for half a dozen games and saying "he isn't 1st grade and never will be", purely because he didn't perform as well as Woods did. Its not logical.

You can't saddle every young kid with that sort of expectation.

Yet here we are still waiting for Benji to play his best football. He says it every year himself and he never delivers. Another year another article where Benji says his best is yet to come and a few weeks later another one saying he's not happy with his form but nothing changes. But Miller gets chopped by everyone for as far as I can see just being average, not doing much wrong. Give the kid a prop per go ffs! What have we got to lose if there was ever a year to give a young half a go surely this is it.
If Anasta is a better halfback I'll eat my undies.
