Paper Tiger
A "paper tiger" is an idiom used to describe something or someone that claims or appears to be powerful, threatening, or formidable, but is actually weak, ineffectual, and unable to withstand a challenge.
I think every Wests Tigers supporter agrees this is the type of player we really miss and ideally need.
Unfortunately these types of players are a dying breed, probably due to getting suspended too often.
I know there has been suggestions to try and sign Moses Leota to fill this type of role, but I’m not sure he even fits the JWH, James Fisher-Harris, Addin Fonua-Blake forward leader description?

He could be righty under our nose in Samuela but would we be 'robbing Peter to pay Paul' as they say by shifting him away from the backrow. May come down to what the player wants.
Wests Tiger: A rare hybrid found only in the NRL. It migrates into the top eight every March before mysteriously disappearing around Round 8.
Also holidays in Bali during September
Plus you need a core of respected senior guys that stay with the club to make sure it sticks.
Otherwise it becomes like one of those motivational posters on the wall that gets ignored.

Its a good shout out and something that I am somewhat familair with have spent a long period of time in Defence. Corps, Brigades and Units all have something that they rally around and within each of those structures, right down to section level rivalry exists; within Corps those of one brigade or one unit have a belief that they are better.
While that exists at a level below is the leadership that come and go - good leaders have Corps, Brigades, and units humming, whereas bad leaders usually have discipline and retention issues to deal with. The common demnominator being that the units and sub unit will reflect the personality of strong leaders and will be struggling to function without it.
I expect, although I don't have much experience outside of the world I just described, that it is the same in most organisations and teams. I can't say for sure as I'm not inside the walls of the CoE but I suspect that we started the season all rowing in the one direction with leadership team that was inspiring commitment to the cause.
We had some serious injuries and part of the "Tiger for Life" group jumping ship. While I'm sure our players will tell you that they are committed to their brothers in arms, subconsiously I expect that they feel let down and that hard to do 1% effort that they were driven to achieve beomes just that little bit harder, the niggling injury becomes an excuse for why and it rolls down hill from there.
What BWG has posted is 100% right but it needs to permeate the organisation. Shaun and Benji can push it and establish that culture but it is up to the players and the old boys to live it. I suspect that some of Benji's 05 crew is about getting the right people into the place to get that happening. We really are at the start of the process and Luai leaving, AD, May and KPPs injuries are part of a speed bump; but the reality is that our depth is not "Tigerlike" and that needs to change.
If we could get HBG showing some real leadership and rowing in the same direction we would get there much quicker. As much effort as Shaun and Benji are putting onto turning the joint around someone with the purse strings has to realise that every other club is trying to get better as well - and they are given bags of gold to get there instead of having to run cake stalls on the side!

Remember when Matty Johns said to Farah the tigers are soft that didn't go down well.
I think some of the issue is we have too many poly boys (outrageous thing to say I know). Guys like TDM just playing to have some fun, I am a very competitive person it's why I like poker, you have to outsmart your opponents. I just don't see that competitiveness in this squad. Honestly I am not even sure it's something you can coach, you're either super competitive or you're not.
