I havent been involved in mini footy since i played. My 2 boys will be playing this year and im just wondering if the rules aee the same…..3 point tries for zero or one pass and 5 point tries for 2 or more passes etc

Even my young bloke struggled to remember…I think you might be talking Mod rules tho

Yeah mod used to have 3 or 5 point tries depending on passes but I was surprised when I helped out my nephew's team that they've dropped that. Mini comp didn't seem to have any proper comp (no table)…

Holy Cross mate. Should be fun. I just hope i dont come across any of those parents who take it too seriously, thats a pet hate of mine.

Theyre everywhere…..just laugh at them
Was at a trial in Saints district once, remember a mum talking to her 7 yo about ''his career'' LOL

Joey Johns came to our outback city to promote his book a few years ago. Great night and Joey was unreal.

I will never forget when one parent stood to ask question which was " my young bloke is a promising halfback what can I do to improve his skills and where should I look to place him in the future?"

Joey replied "how old is he?"

"12" came the reply

"best thing you can do is let him enjoy the game and himself" Joey replied.

This should be pushed into every parents head that has children playing the game.

Haha wait till you come across junior footy team/club politics

Enjoy it and make sure the boys enjoy it…too quickly its all over, Brad had 11 years playing, 5 of those league and union...I enjoyed almost every minute

Almost as bad as the Mum at a Under 8 games last year who ran on the field berated the ref on the call he made and then came off and complained why they didn't have video referees for all games (and she was deadly serious ) 😱pen_mouth:

 Yep. My brother-in-law and myself coached an u/10s team and the seriousness some of the coaches and parents (from other teams - our parents were much more realistic) took the games was mindblowing. Especially considering it was Div 3\. Memo to parents/coaches - if your team and kids are in Division 3 they're unlikely to be NRL material anytime soon and you should just let them have some fun.

Funny and sad but i can see the politics already. Under 8s coach going out of his way to stack his sons team with all the best players. I can see this mug trying to coach right through until the different teams combine and then favouring his boys big tine. I dare say there could be trouble ahead
