Minor change to LO that could make a big difference

not an argument - just stating that the above issues are so outdated we may as well go back to 1908!

Speaking of which - Balmain have never owned the ground and as such our club's finances did not impact upon Leichhardt Council's ability or willingness to "upgrade" the oval in the past 30 years!

The Council believes in "liveability" principles and as such the NIMBY vocal local newbies have provided great obstruction to what we may consider to be progress!

The Club cannot fight that in a gentrified area with so many rate-paying refugees from outer-Sydney now believing the area is their spiritual home!

The Council are a disgrace and have been hijacked by unrepresentative Green-shrouded urban enviro-terrorists.

Well, unless there was a coup in the Leichhradt area, someone must have voted for them.

As much as you may hate it, the composition of the council is reflective of the wishes of the majority of residents in the municipality. Majority of residents probably don't have any interest in the Tigers and therefore could not give a cr*p about Leichhardt Oval. They would probably prefer the ground to be full of people walking dogs etc.

The same issues are occurring with the Warringah Council and Brookvale Oval. Manly is crying for them to upgrade the ground, but the majority of residents are either apathetic or just plainly disagree with the council using their council rates to upgrade a ground that benefits an average of 13,000 people for 10 days of the year.

I would contend that the average person doesn't give a flying fig about local council elections and you get a stack of people voting Green because they're a) browned off with the ALP or b) think they will stop over development or c) they want to be seen as cool and hip and they can't be stuffed learning about who the indie candidates are.

As with most things in the inner west, it all comes down to house prices… If voting Green means no unit blocks destroying the "village atmosphere" they vote for them.

Ok. I guess in the end, the reasons don't matter. The council members have been voted onto the council.
