Mitch Brown - Should he stay or should he go?

I'd love to see him stay, he is a good asset.
Played fullback so well last year and has been decent this year.

only if we get him for cheap because he is really only a backup player unless he gets utai's wing spot. i wouldnt want us to spend too much $$$ on him because we have some good young players in the lower grades who play in the backline.

We would be stupid to move him on. Had big wraps on him in his Cronulla days and can't believe they let him go. Rather afraid they might try for him again, they're in desperate need for strong quick outside backs.

IMO he's a future fullback after Wade Mac moves on. Not flashy but does the little things right which this side desperately needs. He is young and has plenty of time to develop his game and become a classy player.

I think Mitch is developing nicely. A schoolboy star that took time to adjust to the rigours of NRL. We are only just starting to see what he is capable of now. I have heard he is a confidence player and being chopped and changed a lot does not help this.

If there is one area that I am impressed is his poise. He just seems to make the right decisions. I believe that his best position is fullback where he brings the ball back with gusto. He does position himself fairly well in defence and to my mind is the best in taking the high ball in the air at the club (McKinnon is very good as well). He does need to work on his support play if he is truly to become a good fullback though and also know how to set-up his outside backs (ala Hayne and Slater) but this will come with experience. His wing play is good as well although centre does not seem to suit as much.

I would be advising the club to take chance on Mitch. I think with the right tutoring and support he will become one of our leading lights. I actually believe he has the potential to be in the Chris Lawrence class of player.

He is a real solid player. He takes the high balls well, runs it hard and doesn't have mistakes in his game.

He reminds me of Ayshford in that he is not a superstar but exactly what we need.

I think he has been a good gain for the Club. If you check his stats, he is a no-mistake footballer, who gets his job done with a minimum of fuss. Any team needs some players of this type, but Mitch, at his age, promises to get better.
It would be a shame to lose him.

With all the negative comments about Moltzen it is good to see that Forum fans appreciate the quiet achiever, Mitch Brown. A no fuss, mistake free player.

The majority of fourm member have put positive comments about Brown which is great to read.

I am a big fan and want him to stay and build on his talent.

I think he needs to be put in one position which to me is full back once McKinnon retires and need for him to develop his game as a support player (like Slater and Hayne, etc). Has all the attributes to be a very good NRL player.

I think Mitch Brown would get a thrill reading this thread about him.

I also like the idea of keeping Brown at the moment as winger and Utai an impact player from the bench.

Got to try our best to keep Mitch, he can play anywhere from 1-5 & his value is that he seems as comfortable on either side of the field.
Also I believe he'll become a quality safe fullback.

I really hope he doesn't because the tigers have really turned his career around from being in premier league every week for the sharks, to being in the starting lineup at the tigers every week.

You do realise he spent more time playing for BRET last year than First Grade?

Agree with many posts here regarding his ability and potential.

Football aside, he seems like a great guy off the field as well. He was one of few players who seemed to make a big effort talking to fans and posing for photos at the post match presentation.

Sorry but I find him just average and very one dimensional. He's good under the high ball. Sure he gets a job done, but when was the last time he scored of his own bat? When has he ran the length of the field, when has stepped one or two on the way to the line, when has he ran over the top of his opposite winger, when has he chimed in from fullback to put someone into a hole?

A just dont see him as a dangerous player in any position. A solid backup, but no opposition player would look at him and think I've got to have a big game to outplay him.

Lote and Utai are much more dangerous on the wings, plus we have some yougsters coming through.
Lawrence, Ayshford, Daniella and I still believe Moltzen are better centres.
McKinnon has it all over him at fullback.

Good for depth, but it scares me to think some of you see him as the next in line after McKinnon moves on.
Maybe as suggested he could develop into an attacking fullbackwith a mentor, but I tend to think you either have the vision and ball skills to make it as a modern day fullback or you don't. Mitch doesn't imo.

Happy to keep him on market value, but wouldn't compete for his signature.
