Mitch Brown - Should he stay or should he go?

Lote and Utai are much more dangerous on the wings, plus we have some yougsters coming through.Lawrence, Ayshford, Daniella and **I still believe Moltzen are better centres**.
McKinnon has it all over him at fullback.

I stopped paying attention here.

He's an ace fullback, who can cover wing and centre, trouble is the ball never reaches him playing outside Moltzen

& I stopped paying attention there, hahaha….
It's been mentioned 100s of times on this site that Moltzen is a 5/8 or a halfback, he is currently a terrible fullback & needs to develop his skills to get anywhere near to being described as an "ace fullback".
I'd love to see him improve and make the #1 position his own but he struggled there earlier this year and is struggling more so in the centres.
Damn shame but Moltzen may not be a Tiger for much longer, we'll have to wait and see....

& back onto Mitch Brown, we should be thankful we have some one like him in our squad we can rely on to fill in for injuries.
I think he is better than some of the players that start @ other clubs, for example... Luke Burt

he was talking about brown

How much does Brown want? I've got a spare room for him in my home anyday. Hell I'd give him my bed and I'd go sleep out with the dog just to keep him.
As for a certain #4 or #14 jersey this week, that's a whole other kettle of fish.

I rate Brown.I really do. For me he is an always consistent"fill in" player. For every game he has played for us he has given %100.IMO hes a solid "fill in"player and he cant be sto expensive,so I think he stays.

I like Brown but he seems almost too casual as a player, too quiet, i can't really put my finger on it but he lacks something in him that i think could take him to the next level which i think he needs to be at if he wants to secure his future in the game.
It may be confidence i don't know, but he gives me the feeling that he needs to come out of his shell, i think he plays within himself and is capable of much more than what he is showing if he'd only let go and really extend himself and believe in himself.
I think he's a solid player but he does get flustered at times and i think it effects his game, he frustrates me because i know he is better than what we've seen of him. In saying that playing outside Benji wouldn't be the easiest thing to get used to.

We had better sign him now McKinnon is leaving!

Specialty fullbacks are short on supply at the moment so I'd either be offering Mitch Brown a contract extension or praying for Jake Mullaney to stack on another 10 kilos. I just hope Moltzen is not viewed as the solution because he will never succeed as a fullback.

and grow 6 inches as well….

and yes i know slater, gardner matty bowen etc are all garden gnomes as well - no-one needs to point that out for me...

Mitch Brown should be our full back next year if Sheens has any sense.

I get the feeling Marshall's influence will mean his great mate Moltzen will play full back.

Moltzen is not a full back and hope and pray he signs with Souths.

I agree with "Tiger's" comments that Brown seems to lack confidence as he has all the physical attributes to succeed. Big, strong, fast and great under the high ball (where was Mckinnon on Saturday night when Coote scored off the bomb. Bit like Dugan when JT scored).

I would get McKinnon to give Brown lessons how to play full back and chime into the attack.

When need a decent spine (ie Brown, Marshall, Lui and Farah firing).

Big call on Moltzen there Willow. Never say never.
The issue here is the club not having a complete fullback. Moltzen is very good chiming in from fullback on attacking plays but terrible in defense and kick defussing. Brown is the exact opposite. A specialist fullback needs to be equal in defense and attack in the modern game.
Maybe Sheens could look at alternating them like the Bulldogs do with Barba and Turner. Moltzen at fullback in attack then switch with Brown on the wing in defense. Not ideal but its working for the Dogs.
Don't give up on Moltzen in any regard, he's a bloody good prospect and I think we really need to hold onto him.

Even more important to stay now that McKinnon is leaving. Should buddy up with Wade for the rest of the season and learn the finer points of playing Fullback.

Definately, however, I don't think Sheens is going to let his crusade of 'Moltzen at fullback' fall to the wayside.

Absolutely imperative that we keep him, given that McKinnon is off to the UK. IMO he's the only option we've got at FB - the thought of Ryan or Moltz at the back gives me nightmares. I don't think any of the options in the junior grades are ready to step up to FG yet.

`The above x10
