Mitch Moses - Defense - Courage

I think it is a case of - one has more speed and the other has more of a footy brain.

I think Moses is the slower one and probably the better footy brain. I'm starting to feel confident that both of them will kick on.

I agree he has the courage and has improved, but I think he has some lazy habits that need to be coached out of him. His second effort is sometimes missing. I see it in attack as well were he gives a nice pass and admires it instead of instinctively backing up.
But I love his arrogance. I think its an under rated quality in an athlete.
Keep improving this year, and next year he will shine

Definitely agree about having courage, the way he throws himself into it despite the terrible technique and bad reads is impressive for such a small guy with limited 1st grade experience.

He doesn't shy away from it, which for me shows he will get there.

I dont care about his speed, his courage, his defense.

I care about those moments where he has to act spontaneously and use his football smarts to get through a gap, find the outside man with a good pass or place that perfect kick. Its there where he doesnt have to think or play to structure that he plays like the hype.

Still think he would be better suited at fullback but he will make it at 5/8

Both Moses and Brooks put their bodies on the line in defence,,,,All teams target smaller players (halves) in the D line….it's up to the coaching staff to come with a structure that offers protection not allowing them to be isolated as much as they have been....having Simona back and Lawrence moving to the left edge backrower certainly helped shore up that side against Souff's....

Moses is all heart...keep it up Mitch...

I'm not a pro but I find the "missed tackles" stat to be non-informative. If you can slow someone down enough or limit his passing options that's good too. I'd rather a "useless-tackle" stat lol.

Agreed… The stats are decieving some times. A player who misreads in defense is a greater chance of getting his mate a 'missed tackle' recorded against his name, while the misread doesn't get recorded. (the clubs have these stats but are not used by the media)

On the boys, I feel Mitchell reads the defense a lot better than Luke, but Luke has a better tackling technic than Mitch, so development wise you could say they are equal

Moses is all heart and makes up for his light weight with enthusiasm. He's just a kid playing a tough game with guys twice his weight.
The off season should see him pack a few kilos on but he sure doesn't need a bigger heart. All guts this kid.

I cant remember exact details but im pretty sure they were both rep sprinters.

I have it in my head that they were both in the 4x100 metres at some level….cant find anything specific to prove this but i can recall reading this and thinking 'gee thats awesome, halves with real pace."

I'm glad a lot of people on here are seeing what I'm seeing and that is that Moses is gutsy. He makes a lot of effective tackles, usually against bigger opponents and he seems fearless. Sure, he misses a few bit it's to be expected when he is constantly under the pump and a lightweight. Like someone else said, I think he is a better defender and ball player than Brooks and I'll add something else…...I see him as a future captain with his talk and confidence.

They were on the Holy Cross Ryde relay team, nothing further than that to my knowledge.

Why a thread about either Moses or Brooks always ends up a competition between the two is beyond me.

But it's healthy competition for us to have such exciting young prospects who will run the show for the next decade.

Sit back and watch these kids develop

On Mitch he has qualities you can't coach a player - vision, determination, courage, perfection, natural ability and a level head who is willing to listen and be coached. The amount of kids I have seen come through who could of been anything but lacked the last point is long. Moses does listen and respect his coaches, he can be thought technique, physical aspect and evolution of his own game.

We have a winner with him, Brooks and Teddy across the park. It's going to be a very exciting decade for us watching them grow and become outstanding NRL winners.
