I just fail to understand how that NRL had seen what is happening with this guy ….. his obvious and now admitted tanking ..... and have done absolutely nothing.
Any other worthwhile employer and administrator would have dragged the person in by his ears and read him a riot act and imposed sanctions.
Where is leadership in this bloody organization. No wonder the crowds and ratings are down.
Absolutely disgraceful.
And all the while WT are getting abused about the situation. Just stinks.
WTs is his employer, not the NRL and nobody but us can be blamed for him playing first grade.
There was a lot of us that have been saying that he wasn't a first grader a long time ago .
Deliberate non performance by a player still under contract ….. well to me that comes under the " bringing the game into disrepute" heading.
And that is the the area for which NRL is a gatekeeper.
I think you are both right. The WT's have a huge part to play in this drama. They cultivated and nursed this huge ego for years and did little to curb it. This bloke has maybe played a dozen better than satisfactory first grade games for the club in his entire career, yet was allowed to go unchecked. A few on here have been saying for years he should be dropped for his performances and attitude. This has been going on ever since his second year of grade.
To me he has dogged the majority of games this year, whether some were tanked is conjecture only but it certainly looks that way. Id like the integrity unit to be thorough in their investigation. The NRL should be concerned as stuff like this is beginning to happen more frequently and will only increase in time.
Even worse , he was given the reins of the team and was told that it was his team.
He was still learning how to play football, and in no way was he ready , or able to do this .
A few meetings with the reserve grade coach may have saved him from the big head , that has been Part of his problems here.
But No! They were a protected species and could not get the one thing that could possibly have made a difference to this stupid experiment .
A stint in reserve grade , to learn the game , and also to learn that Playing badly had consequences. Both were things that they knew nothing about
Whoever had the dopey idea that two rookies could control and direct an NRL team , As well as learn how to be a genuine first grader, had rocks in his head, and should never again be allowed to make decisions in in an NRL club.
It was always going to Be a good bet that only one would suceed here, And he would need a lot of help to get past the damage that was done in the first couple of bungled years. and IMO.
We got to keep the better of the two
