There's no doubt that Latrell deserves some attention from the judiciary but I don't think the incident can be compared to the one last week involving BJ.

Latrell ran in and struck the head of a player who was involved in what had the appearance of being a nasty incident, at the time that the incident occurred.

BJ made contact with head of a player who wasn't involved in the play as some sort of payback for an incident that had occurred 15 to 20 minutes earlier and which didn't even involve that player at the time that it happened.

Personally i think the two actions are quite different

By that reasoning, if Bj ran in immediately after his brother got hit and did to api what latrell did to josh it would only be 2 weeks.

Latrell Mitchell, Josh Reynolds facing NRL suspensions after South Sydney-Wests Tigers
2 hrs ago

South Sydney are waiting on likely charges for Latrell Mitchell after two separate incidents in Friday's NRL win over the Wests Tigers, who also await a possible charge for Josh Reynolds.

Mitchell became entangled with Reynolds just six minutes into the game after the Tigers five-eighth kicked Souths centre Campbell Graham in the head while chasing a loose ball.
Reynolds was put on report for the incident and could cop a suspension, but replays showed Mitchell collected him with a swinging arm from behind in a retaliation that went unpunished. He was later put on report for a high shot on Tigers forward Josh Aloiai, doubling down on his chances of missing game time in coming weeks.

At half-time on Fox Sports, former Roosters, Bulldogs and Tigers star Braith Anasta said Mitchell was lucky to stay on the field for the hit on Reynolds, and four-time premiership winner Cooper Cronk said he expected both players to be banned. "I reckon the judiciary will look at both incidents because you can't kick even if it's an accident and you can't retaliate like Latrell did," Cronk said.

The match review committee will hand down their findings today.

Any time spent on the sidelines would come as a blow for Souths as Mitchell begins to find his consistency in the number one jersey.

"I'm not too sure what the process will be for him," Souths skipper Adam Reynolds said after the game.
"Hopefully he'll be there next week, but if not, we've got some quality young kids who are waiting to get their chance. "It would be a massive loss."

His coach Wayne Bennett said he saw the kick from Reynolds but missed the shot from Mitchell. (Ha Ha). "I just saw what happened with Campbell Graham on the ground," he said. "I was looking at that so I didn't take a lot of notice what happened after that."

Reynolds is also facing time on the sidelines for collecting Graham's face with his boot while striking out at the ball.**Tigers coach Michael Maguire was subdued when asked whether Reynolds should miss game time, and was surprisingly supportive of Mitchell being cleared to play. "I think he got (Reynolds)," Maguire said.

"At the end of the day, people look at that and they go through that, I hope nothing happens and away we go and play footy again. "In both instances it's very quick and I don't think there's too much in either of them."**

Is anyone else concerned at Madge’s reactions towards this? What the hell is wrong with him? Make some noise Madge, don’t just lay down and take it so damn meekly. No other coach would do this, they would defend their players and call out Mitchell’s shot for what it was. Any wonder we’re increasingly becoming the doormat for the refs to wipe their feet on each week.

Madge was more uptight on the 26 secs it took souffs to make a challenge

Lol can only laugh.

And 2 weeks for Reynolds.... my god, did they watch that in normal speed cause he had every right to go for that ball. Of course what happened was unfortunate, but come on.........

BJ’s was premeditated as was Mitchell’s

NRL sure has its favourites

Does Latrell get a loading for the Garner hit based on the fact that he had a similar offence in the last 30 mins

It looks like there not even raising the Garner hit which i find incredible, there were clearly 2 incidents last week.

we have a new Grub, plus Reynolds never concentrated on the game afterwards and like to know what Madge said to him in the sheds at half time, as nothing said later in the press conference.

Yes a bit like the unfortunate hit by Koroisau on Luciano last week. Accidental, nothing to see here, but a Tigers player? Immediate 2 week suspension.

2 weeks for a dog shot.
No wonder fans are outraged.
Where's the strong Admin when it's needed?

Why is Mitchell hit with a grade 2 while Leilua gets a grade 3?

Because in their eyes Reynolds deserved it.

I'll add to that. The NRL don't care about Reynolds because Reynolds is not an avertisement and promotional tool for the game. The NRL want Latrell on the field because they believe more people will watch the game, buy merchandise and go to games. They are trying to protect the game. Some people will support that ethos and some won't. I don't because I believe in fairness and consistency. The NRL clearly don't share my view especially when they likely have Crow, Politis and other influential types getting in their ear.

That's a really good question.
I can't find any documented guidelines on grading. Has anyone seen any?
I did find a reference to gradings being determined by reference to prior incidents and how they have been graded, but that seems a bit subjective.
If you defend the charges you can be liable for an additional penalty but you seem to be able to challenge the grading without risking an additional penalty.
I note that the club elected to not challenge the grading of Leilua's charge.

Leilua and Reynolds are the sort of players who will always be the players that you can't defend.
I refer back to the Simona tackle 4 weeks for a nothing crusher tackle- stunk of sticking it to us. Not surprised at all by Latrell. He will probably appeal and get off.

Was Campbell graham not in a off side position when he picked the ball , as it came of a Souths player .

That should have been captains challenge there. It might have given us at least one penalty in the first half. (Despite that dodgy one after the halftime siren)

The NRL match review committee once again get it totally wrong and bless the clubs they like.PVL get rid of this bias they are destroying the credibility of the game.
The stench from the refereeing ranks and the match review committee is disgusting.Treat all clubs the same.

That'll do me 2 weeks for a dog shot on par with BJ's and a fine for the Garner high shot. We all knew it was coming but for gods sake the outrage that BJ copped and everyone calling him an idiot and next to nothing for Latrell is beyond a joke. How can we compete when the NRL is so heavily biased against us.

Seems like the NRL condoning king hits or i should say king swinging arm. Was from behind. Worse than what BJ did in my humble opinion.

Oh well, let's build some serious depth in the team, re-sign Packer on minimums and get him to king hit MMoses one week and a few weeks later, belt Ivan. He will get 2 weeks for each, it's nothing if we have depth.
