Moltzen or Lui?

how is it spot on? moltzen passing game wasnt that bad at all. get someone like joey johns to help moltzen out with his kicking and organising and watch how well he will go

in saying that though in a perfect world lui would be halfback and moltzen fullback but if lui leaves and moltzen stays (but plays fullback) then we will still need to buy a good experienced halfback if we want to win the comp. i doubt miller will be ready yet. miller should stay in the under 20s next season

Moltzen IS NOT a halfback. Perfect example was the Dragons semi, last tackle 5m out from the Dragons line, Moltzen at dummy half put in a kick that went 5 m dead. I would have thought the way he finished the yr, that would have showed everyone where he plays his best football

robbie farah has done the same thing

the difference is Farah has a kicking game, Moltzen doesn't

If Moltzen does stay and training at 7 all off season and the fact he lives with Benji and also the fact that they did have a very successfull combo a few years back with almost 100% winning rate i think they can work it!

Almost anyone on the park can boot the ball upfield but in terms of an attacking kicking game, Moltz deffinately not in our selection of players who do have an attacking game.

In saying that, with Marshall, Lui and Farah, a 4th attacking kicker isn't going to be needed at all.

Whoever they have as kicking coach at wests he's done a pretty good job so far. Benji's conversions improved in leaps and bounds this season, as did Lui's kicking and Farah's decent for a hooker. Give him some time with Moltz and we'll be fine.

Same guy who coached Hodges by any chance?

Do you still believe in Santa Claus?

Moltzen at 7 will fit in perfectly with our current bonehead plays that cost us games we should win.
We need someone who can actually control the pace of a game and take the smart options when need be rather than the flashy ones. Leave the flashy plays to Benji and Robbie.
Lui was getting there (slowly) but Moltzen is definitely not that sort of player.

No contest. Looking at purely the on field performances Lui is by far more skillful at half back than Moltzen. Lui has a better kicking and passing game and can break the line on his own. We need a playmaker that takes control of the game and let Farah and Benji deliver the knock out punch when they need to step in. Lui is not the best half back going around in the comp but he is the best we have in the club at this point in time.

Moltzen has been fantastic at fullback but lets be honest that majority of Moltzen's line breaks are running off great passes from the likes of Benji, Farah, Lui, Ellis etc Moltzen has had a sensational back end of the season at fullback and that's his best position. He reads the play well and proved he can be a good support player. He's not at the same level of the top Fullbacks in the game that can break the line regularly when returning kicks in play, but at least he's safe.

In my opinion the club is making this last ditch effort to keep Moltzen because Lui is going to be axed because of his off field dramas and we don't have any other players experienced enough to go to half back. Moltzen can fit in the salary cap now because Lui's salary will be freed up.

I'd rather not bring moltz back if it's for #7 how many times this year he failed to throw the final ball when needed. If it's for #1 I'll help him move back in!!

As suggested I'd rather start to blood miller then just put a stop gap for a year or two… At least by then he's have some awesome combinations even if we miss top 8 in 2012.

Moltzen to halfback? Someone is kidding!!! He is not a halfbacks you know what. Halves are born, not created. Do people want to give this bloke another 12 or more months so that he can learn to be a fill in half at best, like they gave him to learn to be a crappy fullback?.

He was a shocking fullback and he would be a worse halfback. Let him go.

Someone suggested on this forum to bring in Johns to teach him how to kick etc. etc. Give me a break. If you wanted to do that, why not do it with Miller?

Johns is on record as saying he is the best halfback he had seen in the under 20's. Surely that would be the way to go if you wanted to involve Johns.

This thread is useless because talking hypothetically is a waste, facts are lui did wot he did and there is no point saying he is better with that aside…
If molts stays (lui will go regardless of molts outcome) molts wil be the fullback.
He wil take on a bit more responsibility from there which will allow an inexperienced half to come in

I really can't see why the club is wasting time with this issue.
Moltzen is IMO not a halfback or fullback that we need.
If Lui is not retained then we should seriously look at Carney option. This guy would round off things nicely for us.
His 2011 off field sins are just not that bad.
