Moltzen - Run straight

@Goose said:
you guys are a joke, we have just beat a top team, Moltzen has been solid as a rock all night, and you guys have pounded him…..

calling any NRL player soft makes you an idiot, simply getting to first grade takes alot courage.

newsflash, running the ball straight and hard is not the be all and end all of a fullback.

any player endorsed by wayne bennett is clearly alot better than the blokes on here give them credit for

Solid as a rock :roll That will do me. 2 good tackles, 39 metres in attack, no support play and you call that solid…He should not be in FG after tonight.

Nice one goose… This is NRL it appears the majority on this forum agree your mate in not up to NRL standard....

Goose when did Wayne Bennett endorse him . Funny Wayne's going to Newcastle If he endorsed him shouldn't he have signed with Knights . Don't think he is soft 'just not suited to fullback in any way , shape or form Must give him some credit though his defence seems much better in the last month

I am not going to say he is soft as quite simply i agree and have said as much before about having to have courage to play NRL. But it cannot be denied Moltz seems "softer" than say Billy Slater, Hayne, Gardner, Mini, the list goes on and on. The reason? Because everyone of these other fullbacks that has 30 metres between them and the defensive line TAKES the 30 metres, they don't look around for somone else to do it.There was one particular play last night Moltz elected to throw a pass across the goal line and we got tackled 5 metres out when he could have ran straight and picked up 20 metres.

yeah, he just put in two great try-saving tackles and was always in support **of Benji and nobody else**.

Edited that one for accuracy Kul

Agree with most, he is pretty ordinary, he has shown next to nothing.

I'd put Brown or McKinnon before Moltzen, Brown showed last year he can hanlde it.

Moltzen isn't even a work in progress like Lui for example…...................axe him!

28 metres in attack from 8 runs. That's 3.5 metres per run and quite probably the lowest average of any player this season. If he ever bother to support the general play around the ruck he could easily have quadrupled those stats.

Not withstanding the 2 try savers, although the second looked lucky in the end, he dogged it tonight - plain and simple. 39 metres in attack for the second week in a row. Completely unacceptable from a fullback in a winning team.

well said willow …. his stats do not lie ... they tell the whole story .....
now just imagine what a real fullback would do if he ran it back at pace ....maybe save his forwards 20 or metres in hit ups.....his wingers must despise him .....

how is moltzen endorsed by wayne bennett?,, bennetts gone to the knights ….or is it a ploy to beat saints next year .....bennett knows boyd is his fullback ....

watched the game again, Moltzen needs to stop pulling up just before he hits the defensive line, he gives the opposition the opportunity to get some momentum and push him back. Lui is pretty much the same, he needs to stop that little skip he does before coming to the defensive line.

There is a decision to be made when Lote returns. Beau Ryan has been splendid in the last month and Utai's value is difficult to ignore.

Roll the dice with Lote or Ryan at the back and Brown on bench?

In answer to the question how has Wayne Bennett endorsed Tim Moltzen.

Very simply Wayne Bennett was still part of the recruitment commitee for next year in a consultant role and he suggested and recommended strongly pursuing Moltzen. Im sure he suggested others as well.

Definitely wasn't following up Lui was he…..

Or Woods

Or Galloway

Or Ellis

all of whom either made breaks or were looking to offload

That was in the last minute or so of the game and anyone, who is supposed to be of NRL-standard, throwing such a stupid pass should be dropped, whether he is playing fullback or some other position. Brown would not be as dumb as this and should be first choice fullback, if McKinnon is injured.
