Moltzen Staying Or Going

This is awesome!!

Go humphreys!! This will teach Doust for jumping the gun and trying to announce a signing on the eve of one of our games.

Oh such sweet revenge.

St. George Illawarra didn't mind stuffing Wests around by telling everyone just before one of our games that they signed Moltzen. Stuff 'em!

Yeah…they really stuffed us round, those bastards.
I mean, we tell him to go find another club, so he does just that - goes finds another club, that club decides to announce theyve got a new player....the bloody hide of them! :unamused:

Timing was the issue ink. And they should have discussed with tigers first. I don't think the issue of him signing was the problem.

The only people that will be making a big deal about this will the press
The terrorgraph gives us hell anyway
I wonder who will be get a giant butt kicking at the Dragons seeing that no contracts were signed
Their fans are calling for Dousts head
Business is business
Good on ya Humphreys

personally i dont really rate moltzen, however i love that the club is going to stick to the dragons. i dont care if its considered 'unethical' its showing that we're not going to be pushed around anymore and are a serious player in the NRL. i still think we went soft when we let jordan kahu stay in brisbane, this is a good change

Oops!!! Doust and Tauber forgot about the slight issue of the release….

Bahahahahahaha!!!!

Masterstroke by Humphreys. It's nit unethical at all, fact is Tauber and St George have been unethical and "amateurish" as ink puts it, having conducted a deal without the correct processes.
Has this never happened in any other workplace? Employee goes for interview, signs contract, resigns, only to have former company offer more money etc.. Bad luck to new company. Why is certain people holier than thou because it's a football team????
Happens everyday and no-one gives a rats… Competitive Market forces!!

Your club has strung you along for three months, misled you….as long as youre happy with that

Can you see why others may not be too happy?

Did Wests Tigers tell Moltzen he could sign with another club, or just say he can shop around because they might not be able to keep him???

I care about the rep of this club, and if Moltzen stays a Tiger in 2012 after all that crap midyear, the rep of the club will not look good esp. with the media exaggerating everything. No one will give a damn about the crap that went on inside, we will be called unethical and IMO the rep of this club is clean per se and I have always prided on that.

The clubs rep!!! Compared to what. Sticking fingers up people's bum. That was forgotten in 12 months and that was 100x worse then this

This is not a popularity contest to look good. It's a business. This won't even be a bleep on the radar come start of 2012 season

Good call Troy…Good call.

Get over yourself, no I don't feel strung along at all. Why is it incumbent on Humphreys to organise and follow up the release. I hope he has gone to work every day since July, for 3 months, and wandered for a few moments when St George and/or Tauber would actually get back to him.
Fact: we are competing with 15 other NRL clubs and many other countries, codes etc for the services of the best talent you can fit into 4.something million dollars

There is absolutely nothing wrong with what is now playing out.
Contracts are not irreversible agreements. Commercial agreements like this have many complex aspects - read your mortgage or lease for example.
Undoing what has been done can legimately be part of the contract.
It's not a simple issue of one party reneging.

I dont want us to turn into Manly-like. That's my primary reason and secondly, all this trouble for keeping Moltzen isn't worth it.

Get over what?
My opinion?
Its as valid as yours friend.
Did you wonder every day for the last three months when that would happen?
Or did you think , like I have thought and every fan I know, and every member and supporter on here…that he was gone.
I wonder how those at the functions, the open training, the GF presso...that said goodbye and wished him well with 100% sincerity...I wonder how they feel now knowing he & the club were keeping a secret.
You may not feel like you were, but you were basically bullshitted to...like it or not

What if the dragons agreed to release him and asked WT to make a statement to say that they had elected not to release him from the last year of his contract. That way the dragons can save face with their supporters and we look like the bad guys. I doubt that we would have released a statement before talking to the dragons.

I wasn't sorry when Timmy signed with the Red V, but once we got eliminated from the finals I was sorry to see him go! Only fair that he learns to place a hand on the player on the ground whilst playing for our club, considering that was the reason our 2011 season ended!

I like him, and I like him at halfback. I would still like to keep Lui though…

Is this that much different to Shane Elford signing with Souths and getting a release to stay with us?
Jordan Kahu signing with us and then signing with the Broncos?

Clubs lie/keep things from their fans and members all the time… Especially when it comes to contracts. They never reveal anything to their fans before it goes public I don't see how this is any different? Would you have rather this whole contract negotiation to have continued on for months and effect the way the boys have played? Or keep it quiet until the season has ended and deal with it then? I know what I would want.

It's not my job to wander. Humphreys is paid to run the wests tigers and make them competitive in the marketplace. I dare say Mr 6% and/or Doust should have sorted this. I dont feel lied to at all!
If Moltzen wins the GF with a try, ala Brett Stewart, I bet EVERYONE will be high-fiving…

05 is correct - it is far from our obligation to provide a release unless Tauber (who we all know is a light-weight following his initial handling of the Benji assault allegations) or Saints request it!

Doust has failed Contracts 101 in that he viewed "permission to negotiate" as grounds to announce a deal before the release was formalised - and as such (due to the lack of commercial good faith displayed by the Dragons via their premature announcement) we had every right to hold off on providing said release!

And it is still yet to be granted so under Contracts law Moltzen remains bound by the initial extant contract to us for 2012!

Humphreys has played Doust off a break on this one!!

lots of conjecture in this thread….redemption and Montague street sound like they are on the money though.

I think it was more the case of the latter rather than the former.

Whatever it was though, it was fairly prudent of the club to not grant a release when Moltzen did sign with the Dragons. By the looks of things the Dragons did the wrong thing by saying they've signed him prior to Moltzen getting an official release from the Tigers.

Now circumstances have changed which could allow Moltzen to stay at the club he would prefer to play for. If the Dragons hadn't of announced the signing, I don't think there'd be this big of an outcry going on.
