Just heard on sky news they showed us 2moros dailytelgraph that he is stayign with tigers and nrl has a contract with us so we can put it to bed he will be at wests tigers next year 😀

Yeah I said that 2 days ago..my font must be too small or something.. :unamused:

Got a bad feeling about this backtracking. The karma bus will get us here. Just a gut feel.

He will either not play well or get injured. Sorry to be negative. He is a pretty talented footballer but no world beater, I would have let the original decision to release him stand.

I know 'm probably in the minority however thats just my personal opinion.

The fact is the Tigers have not ever given Moltz a release… They told him that he could negotiate elsewhere but saying that is totally different to saying, here's a release go play there....

They may not have released him but they made salary cap calculations under the assumption he would not be with us next year.

As I said before both Moltzen and Lui are staying….But someone else will have to go.

Black and White are you saying someone else will have to go the Dragons or another club?

Someone else will have to go not necessarily to the dragons…....Can't wait for the spin on this one......"Young guns don"t meet expectations and released" "Beau takes up full time comedy" "Lote moves to France for family reasons"..Watch this space.

**St George Illawarra Dragons deal with Wests Tigers star Tim Moltzen worthless

THEY claim to have done nothing wrong but St George Illawarra face being trumped by rivals Wests Tigers in the battle for utility star Tim Moltzen.

**The Daily Telegraph understands the NRL has just one official contract registered for Moltzen in 2012 - and it belongs to Wests Tigers.**

That leaves a second contract Moltzen signed with Saints virtually worthless. It cannot be registered.

Moltzen, 23, was given permission to negotiate with Saints mid-season when the Tigers were experiencing salary cap difficulty.

He duly signed a three-year deal with the Dragons but the Tigers are now claiming Moltzen was never formally released.

**The Dragons may have to accept the fact Moltzen will remain at Concord - but they will be far from happy.**
One well-placed legal source said: "If St George Illawarra can't register him, then he can't play for them under NRL rules. This is a problem for Saints.

"I'm sure the Dragons signed him in good faith but Wests Tigers certainly have the upper hand."

Moltzen has told friends he wants out of the Dragons deal.

Wests Tigers chief executive Steve Humphreys denied a deal had been discussed in which his club would financially compensate the Dragons.

"Tim is contracted to us for 2012," Humphreys said. "We have the only contract of his that is registered by the NRL.

"There has been dialogue (between the two clubs) but no release has been formalised or agreed upon.

"He is a Wests Tigers player until such time his contract concludes or he is released."

Asked why the Tigers didn't object at the time of Moltzen's move, Humphreys said: "I did. No one asked us for a release. We just sat on it."The Tigers though are still anticipating a fight for Moltzen with St George Illawarra.

The NRL is refusing to intervene, hoping the matter can be resolved by the two clubs.

"St George Illawarra, as I understand it, believe he was free to sign a contract with them," Humphreys said. "They moved forward. There was no dialogue between the two clubs at the time which was unusual. There is dialogue now and we are hoping to resolve this amicably.

"Peter Doust (Dragons CEO) and I get on pretty well. There is no desire to make this any more difficult than it needs to be. We will sort it out one way or another hopefully without the NRL intervening."

Doust was unavailable for comment yesterday.

Questions remain over why the Tigers gave Moltzen permission to talk with the Dragons but said nothing about the deal until now.

The Dragons bought Moltzen to cover for departing stars Darius Boyd and Mark Gasnier.
**It appears the Tigers now want to keep Moltzen given the club is about to axe halfback Robert Lui.**

It feels like we have them on a technicality - but does it pass the goodwill test? Probably not.

I know it's a business and we owe the dragons nothing but it all kind of leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Cant help but feel somewhere along the line this will come back and bite us.

Only people it's biting is the dragons. They didn't show the respect when they announced it. They announced it before a game between the two teams. Which we won😉
I don't know why people are up in arms about it. If the player was some one like benji would the same things be said. People would be urging tigers management to fight tooth and nail for him.

But it's not Benji. Or Farah, or Lawrence, or Ellis, or Blair or Galloway - its not any of our elite players.

It's an average first grader.

Doesn't matter if they are elite or not. Just shows that people are basing this and judging the club based on players ability. So in other words it's nothing to do with Ethics.
Only last year moltz was being begged by members to be bought back from injury to help with finals.
His form this year was expected to be slow. And if anything his form is far more advanced then what it should be. Someone of his age coming back from his injury usually takes longer. Next year I'll be happy to make some humble pie for people. Cause we are going to need it. Next year he will be back with in confidence

I diagree. Also, the only team it's a mess for is the dragons. I doubt Moltzen is too worried about it now it's basically a given his "contract" with not valid. I'm certain the other players at wt aren't concerned by it.

its big business you do what you have to, to get what you want. If the dragons were silly enough to leave a loop hole for Tim to squeeze through, than they must cop it sweet.

From where I sit, I would have let him go and shown some faith in young Miller, but Iam also not complaining to have Tim back

I can't help but think it is almost a deliberate ploy…
I mean, Humpty can say sure... You can look elsewhere, But if there are
NO FORMAL requests for release why would he chase it up... This a
COMPETITION... And this is a very competitive move. The NRL has only
one contract for Moltz. It's ours... The Dragons have simply been trumped
from the Outset!! As much as it leaves a sour taste in thier mouth...
They gotta admit, they have been outsmarted.
And the talk to keep Moltz and axe Lui is Rubbish... We have Unexpectedly Payto and McKinnon off the
books since Moltz was given permission to move on.
I think we will find we have the same spine as last year.....
Few fresh Forwards.... MY GOD!!
Bring on 2012!!

Supercoach

Miller will get his shot. Moltz will be fb me thinks.

I for one am
Excited.
