Moltzen's future with Wests Tigers

There has been talk of Moltzen at the Central Coast Bears or elsewhere. There was also discussion of him on the bench later in this year after Lui's return. If Lui, Laz or arana fill the 7 spot this year, who thinks we will see Moltzen at the Tigers in 2011? Perhaps the LARS operation is something to think of? Covell is off crutches already and just said they put two synthetic fibres in his knee instead of a single hamstring graft - sounds ok? But yes it is still an experimental op (but it worked recently for an AFL player also). I am a Moltzen fan and I'm really disappointed he wont be playing halfback. I hope we see him next year, your thoughts?

We have him until the end of 2012\. I really don't think anyone should expect Central Coast to have a team in 2013\. The new commission Rugby League Australia or whatever they will call themselves will just want to keep the teams they have now. The comp will be owned by the clubs. They will look after themselves. I'm not saying there shouldn't be a Central Coast Bears team though.

He's still contracted with the Tigers for awhile. Sheens and the club have big wraps on him, so he'll be looked after for awhile yet. If Moltzen leaves, it will be on his terms.

I wouldn't be suprised if he is offered a deal or two in the next 12 months - probably in a 5/8 spot. Sheens may rate him but if Lui was fit he would be up against Ryan for FB and he was being wasted there anyway IMO. But next season is long way away and who knows where he might be needed then

I'd keep Moltzen over Lui. Big statement I know, but to me Moltzen has more passion for the Tigers and for the game itself. When he makes a mistake you can see the disappointment on his face. But hey, that's just from an outsider's point of view, I have no idea what they're both like to play and train with.

I too prefer Moltzen to Lui. The injury to Moltzen just sucks. It came out of nowhere and if the team does succeed, it could leave Moltzen out of it so to speak.

We know for certain that he will be with us in 2011 and 2012, what happens if we win a premiership in those 2 years and he really wants to stay?

What happens if the Bears don't even enter the league?

What happens if we offer him a contract which he just couldn't resist?

Before we start raising speculations about his future, lets just work with what we've got in front of us for the next three seasons then worry about his 2013 whereabouts.

Im with you on that one and id even go further as to say I would have Moltzen ahead on Lui, Lazarus and Arana. I think Moltzen was going to secure his spot as our long term halfback and I hope we see him play many more matches at halfback over the next 5 - 10 years.

The Tigers supported Benji big time with injuries, and he is great friends with Moltzen. Lets hope the same prevails as I rate him as a long term no. 7

The club will support Tim. I personally think if he is our long term 7 he would have beaten a very good talent in Lui for the job and our club can only benefit from such competition for spots.

Will not be easy in my opinion to get over Lui, in my many years of watching football this kid has tremendous ability.

… I hope he takes the LARS operation ...

He isn't able to. That operation is not suitable for every person that requires a knee recon. Moltzen sustained too much damage for that op to work.

Beau Ryans stock just went up. IF and When Tuiaki gets back on the field this season we may see Coach Sheens opt for two massive wingers.

I hope moltzen comes back to the No1 Jumper. I still want to see Rob Lui in the No7 for another 10 or so games yet before i make up my mind…

no moltz in 1 :frowning:

i think Lui and Moltz should fight out the 7 jersey - even though beau isn't as talented as Moltzen, hes a much better fullback and winger (plus may not be back this year and with taumata and lazarus coming through….)
