It’s not relevant anymore mate. They wests tigers board is independent of the HBG. It’s the whole reason for the restructure so this shit doesn’t filter down to the team .
It really reemphasises the point everyone was making around him , that he was a grub, and power hungry , and a major cause for the destabilisation of the wests tigers over the last 20 years .

He can’t . The license for the nrl is under the brand Wests tigers . He can’t kick and scream all he wants , the nrl would never approve it .
When guys like him finally die off in the next 10-15 years , the club can finally change everything to wests tigers , both Balmain and magpies , and this whole rhetoric can be had by dinosaurs down the local rsl .

Should we be concerned?

The media would have you believe so because they love the drama and headlines.

But realistically, no. It doesn’t matter what chairs, board, HBG do or want, the NRL will never ever allow the collapse of WT and re-instatement of Wests or Balmain.

The NRL have the final say and will not issue a license to either. It would cost them millions in marketing, sponsorships, merchandise, branding, licensing fees etc etc. Not to mention they’ll lose hundreds of thousands of fans.

Wests and Balmain people who think it’s even a possibility are moronic. You’ll lose half your fan base, have to spend millions in licensing fees, massive losses in changing logos and merchandise, sponsorships will more than halve and assets like the COE lose massive value.

It’s not even close to being economically feasible. You would lose tens of millions in the first year alone with millions more in years following. All while generating half the income as you don’t have the money coming in from fans and sponsors.

Any threats to split are purely a power grab. “Give us more control or we will go”. Nothing more, nothing less.
