Moses Mbye and goal Kicking

Goal kicking good

Mbye made some good tackles in defence as well, especially that 1 on 1 tackle on ramien that forced a error

He did get him earlier in the match and even forced a mistake and drop ball.

I really hope we use a goal kicking coach, it looks like something that can be improved with guidance and practice.

Pat Richards and Brett Hodgson both work at the club

I hope we see the results of their employment soon....

I am really warming into Mbye playing centre. I feel his runs out of dummy half are fantastic and pinch at least 15m every time. It seems he flicked a switch in the 2nd half against the raiders and has carried that through this week.

Yep me too. He has added some pace to the 3/4 line. Hits hard in defence too & lately sticks his tackles more often than not. A couple of times last night he was running into the line 100 miles an hour, only to run a decoy. I’d like to see our halves hit him at pace more often, I’m sure it’d create havoc!

@TSupps05 same here. He is going well in defence and attack at centre. Turning into a better centre than Marsters

We need to keep talking him up and hopefully he has a few blinders so someone can take him in the off-season. Madge is no mug we are paying 900k for an average centre with no ticker and lacks focus in games. Even the players call him the fake captain.

There are 32 centres in the comp, 29 are going better than Esan.

Sure I heard some stat we have only kicked 4 sideline conversions all year , Mbye has one Marsters 3

We still need someone better , far better in fact

bit tough on mbye's goal kicking, looks first class with a bit more practice hits the ball sweetly and like bullets. Instead of masters 50yard draws.

Mbye is going good at centre, seems like his position

Yes I agree re: the kicking. He just seems to strike the ball a lot better.

Exactly Steve, two very good goal kickers in there day. Pat should also be showing them those magical high kick off’s that he had.

So what the hell are they doing? Moses and Marsters were about on a par when they were both playing here - they’d kick the odd good goal but were mostly off target. Since he left Moses has gone on to be one of the most accurate kickers in the game, Marsters has gone backwards. No good having former great kickers in the coaching team if they can’t improve on what we have.

Looking back through the stats (as I like to do), our goal kicking has rarely been very good. Our best seasons were:

* 2005: 81.0% (with Hodgson doing all but 1 kick)
* 2008: 78.4% (Hodgson again with some kicking from Marshall)
* 2017: 76.7% (Lolohea and Moses)
* 2003: 76.5% (Covell and Caine)
* 2012: 76.0% (Marshall)
* 2014: 75.6% (Richards)
* 2018: 75.6% (Marsters and some from Marshall)

So the last 2 years have actually been some of our better years, and Marsters can kick better than he did this year. Kickers have their good and bad seasons. Even Hodgson (who kicked at 77.3% overall for us) had a bad year, kicking at 64.1% in 2006.

Has anyone seen Luke Brooks kick goals!

If he could pick out the black dot like he picks out the fullback with his general game kicking he'd make Thurston look like Marsters
