The frustrating part in all of this is the WT know they are paying Mbye too much, but they're also too dim-witted to release him to the Dragons this year, which means we'll be stuck with him for next year.

It sucks...but not sure giving him away for free is the right move either...as much as I would and throw in a Bunnings Voucher...

I'd be interested to know how much the Dragons are willing to pay - I'm sure it's an insulting amount for the WT not to bother.

I agree if the figure the dragons are willing to pay isn’t north of $350 for next season I wouldn’t do it, any deal has to have a bit of give and take. If it’s only $200k I don’t think we would be willing to let him go.

He doesn't want to be here, he's not interested, he's not trying. If the Dragons take up just $1 of what we're paying the bludger it's a better deal than what we're getting now.

Would he not play hard next year seeing he is looking for another contract.
Even the worst players go well in contract years, Might as well keep him instead of paying him to play elsewhere.

If the dragons are undercutting us and not willing to budge I say screw em. We lose nothing by keeping him.
If there is no deal this year move him on mid next year.
What I would like to see, that if we are stuck with him, we no longer use our games as a showcase for him to attract another bidder and play him at 18th man for a bit. Both him and Simpkin are in the 30. And the young guys are not getting the game time they need to build forwards.

We’ve released Walters end of the year and aren’t recruiting a replacement for him any time soon. We aren’t willing to pay overs for any one. Even so we don’t look like a side that will win the premiership in the next few years so it would be a waste of money recruiting some high profile players for next year.
Other than upgrading a few younger player contracts what do we gain out of releasing him?

Good point, i would like to see some stats. on players performances during the mid term of their contract and then compare it with the players performance towards the end of their contract,
I think there would be considerable differences most of the time.

Yep agree 100%
If we don’t get a deal we’re happy with to release him then keep him here to play for a contract from ‘23 onwards.

At half the price, then he would be a fan favourite for his Attitude and utility.

I’m not so sure about this? You should be putting in 100% and bust your arse regardless of what you’re being paid.

In Aust, we dont like talking about money.

As an employer it is a major consideration and cant / shouldn't be separated.

I agree effort needs to be 100% always, but that expectation is in line with above average remuneration. $$$$

This is why Mbye, Packer have been devastatingly disappointing.

I got the strong impression from Madge in his pre-match interview that Mbye isn’t going anywhere.

Yeah I dunno, maybe I'm the odd one out? I don't get paid a cent for the sport I play, but I'll still feel shit for the following week if I have a bad game, and want to be one of the leading contributors to the team's effort even if we've lost.

Taking a peek at the dragons forum, they're quite keen.

Come on Tigers Management, get it done immediately by August 1st, never mind a reasonable percentage of freight on next years contact.

Cut our losses.

Might get to see Mbye play in the forwards in the second half.

Not watching but assume we have injuries

Hopefully still compete well in the second half.

I'd make a comment about Mbye.......but I saw his kids in that team announcement video and I just don't have the heart to do it.

Fly and be free Mbye.
