Hmm back to Belmore perhaps.

But they're okay w wingers and fullbacks and halves for next year, really. Can't see them paying Allen and JAC to just play wing. And halves are Flanno and Burton. Unless as a 9? Which would be a bad call.

Maybe Sharks in the halves or competing for fullback? Johnson might leave and Townsend is replaceable.

He just quashed the Tele Craps version of events and said he is committed to this year and has not asked for a release rather wants to be respectful to the club and see what his options are.

I would keep him this year if we cannot get anything better and if he is able to source a better deal next year we can have some extra funds to chase areas of much needed improvement.

He is a class act and having spoken to him in person, a really decent human being.

Agree with everything you say.

But I will add that he didnt just come out and quash Phil the Fat Drunks story, because he said that before the story was written. Phil the fat drunk decided to try and sink the boot in by twisting the story, or should I say LYING, AGAIN, and reporting something that just wasnt true in order to sell papers and internet space.

Once again, as he was with Cooper Cronk, Phil the fat drunk should be called out for a BS story.

Mbye hasnt been the best for us - but thats not all his fault. He is a classy guy that has more integrity in his toejam than Phil the fat drunk.

Let's be kind to them...the same "gentle souls" who took on Esan. Every time I see him loaf around and miss tackles, I smile and thank them.

What a lovely, kind spirited club...Esan and Moses in their backline would be fantastic. Perhaps they could use some of Russel Packer's experience up front also?

More i think about it this isnt just Moses being a good guy and leaving the right way.

It looks like a constructed exit by the club to allow him to leave without the baggage that would come if if it came out it was our decision to tap him on the shoulder.

Can see through it.

As for the misdiagnosis story well for sure that is his manager trying to excuse his poor form.

They have also tabled a 3yr x $700k deal for A Reynolds. IMO they could be locking themselves into the bottom half of the table for the next 5 - 10y

So a spine of Drinkwater , Reynolds Robson and Mbye ? That’s not too inspiring at all . Not to mention 32, 28 and mid 20s for the other 2 age wise .

Wests Tigers utility Moses Mbye has reaffirmed his commitment to the club for remainder of the 2021 season despite the club granting him permission to discuss his playing future with other clubs from the 2022 season.

Mbye, who is currently under contract at Wests Tigers until the end of 2022, voiced his firm commitment to the club and the playing group.

“This club is heading in a really good direction and that’s why I’m keen to be a part of it this year,” Mbye said.

“I’ve been here for a while now, so I’m looking for an opportunity to grow and to preserve my career and play for a little bit longer.

“I haven’t asked for a release and I don’t want to go immediately. I haven’t said I’m going to be somewhere different in 2022 — I literally just asked for the club’s blessing and I didn’t want to disrespect anyone.

“The club has been great about it — they agreed with me and offered me the blessing to talk to other clubs for 2022 and beyond and if nothing arises then I’ll be at Wests Tigers.”

Mbye reflected on why he asked the club for permission to seek a new opportunity — expressing how he wants the best for Wests Tigers.

“I came to this club as a marquee signing and I’ve played to that ability in patches,” Mbye said.

“We’ve got some great young players coming through and the last thing I want to do is be obstructing this great club with where it’s going.

“The club is heading in a great direction. The whole club has some stability in it and there’s some great people guiding the club.

“The club has recruited well and we’ve seen that in the first few games on the season. If we play consistent football, we’ll see ourselves playing through September.”

Mbye said the events of this week won’t distract him or his teammates ahead of the club’s blockbuster clash against the Parramatta Eels on Easter Monday.

“We had a great win up in Newcastle and we’re looking forward to Monday’s game now. It’s a big opportunity for us because we’re expecting a huge crowd on Easter Monday — it’s usually a great clash,” he said.

“Parra have given us a few hidings in the past and we’re really focused on the game.”

Story on Ch9 by Emma Lawrence. Mbye is an articulate man and spoke well of the WTs. Clearly a move is on.

Yeah I reckon he'll line up something for next season. With Packer off the books and more than likely BJ, we'll be in a very good position to attract a marquee player.

Mbye: Knee no issue as he looks to exit Tigers on right foot

Moses Mbye wants to finish his Wests Tigers stint on the right foot, rejected claims of drama over a knee injury, has ruled out the Super League and doesn't necessarily want to return to Queensland.

A day after speaking to club officials to get permission to negotiate with rival clubs for 2022, Mbye fronted the media at Tigers training at Concord on Thursday morning.

He told NRL.com there was no misdiagnosis of a knee injury by the club's medical staff last year and he rejected claims it was among the factors behind his decision to explore his options next year.

Mbye cited a desire to start fresh elsewhere and the need for change were the main factors behind his request, not that he was reportedly upset over the handling of a knee injury.

The 27-year-old former Maroons utility injured his knee during a trial in March last year before having arthroscopic surgery in September in a procedure that ruled him out for the remainder of the season.

"The club didn't misdiagnose me at all," Mbye told NRL.com.

"It was purely through normal protocol any medical staff would take.

"I sustained a knee injury during a game and then the following week I tried to get ready for the game, went through all the processes but got to captain's run and ruled myself out.

"It was the following week that I went and seen a surgeon to have an arthroscope. It's quite routine in the NRL. It was never about being pushed to play through a knee injury.

"I missed four weeks because of the surgery. I want to clear it up because I was a little upset about it."

Mbye arrived at the joint venture club from Canterbury on a four-and-a-half-year deal midway through the 2018 season but has struggled to live up to the marquee price tag the Tigers paid for him under former management.

Acknowledging a release would suit both parties, Mbye is determined to end his time at the Wests Tigers on the right note.

He has all but ruled out a move to the English Super League given the current circumstances surrounding COVID-19 and with his young family comfortable in Sydney.

A move to Queensland appears to be the logical choice given he was born in Brisbane, grew up in Noosa and the Cowboys and Broncos have room in their salary cap to potentially strike a deal.

The Titans have also been mentioned in dispatches and the club is aware Mbye may be shopped to them but they are unlikely to enter discussions as they can't see where he would fit into their team.

"It's not my [whole] desire to go back to Queensland at all," Mbye responded.

"I'm not shutting down any opportunity but there's no preference to where I want to go.

"It doesn't all have to happen immediately. I've just asked for the club's blessing. They've been great about it. They've agreed and offered me the chance to look around and if nothing arises I'll be at the Tigers."

Asked if playing on marquee money had caught up with him, Mbye added: "At this level no matter who you are or what player you feel some level of pressure.

"That's why it's the NRL and there is a very small minority who can play the game at this level.

"If you're no feeling pressure you're not doing it right. The pressure is what keeps you coming back. You overcome adversity – that's the highs and lows of it.

"The reality is I came to this club as a marquee signing and in patches, I've been able to play to those standards but in other patches, I haven't.

"We've got some great young players coming through and the last thing you want to be doing is obstructing where this club is going to go."

Broncos coach Kevin Walters said Mbye could become a player of interest but added his son Billy Walters, who offers similar utility value, was a certainty to join the club from next season.

"He is certainly an Origin player, has good versatility as well, Moses. I would’ve thought he’d be a player that many clubs would be interested in," Walters said.

"[Billy's situation] is just parked at the moment. The Tigers are rightly so hanging onto Billy and we don't have a problem with that.

"We will march on with the players that we do have here and we will get Billy to the Broncos next season which is something we are all looking forward to."

Mbye has been named on the bench for the Tigers in their KFC Monday Football clash with Parramatta at Stadium Australia.
