damned if we do damned if we dont...
All the Mbye knockers cant wait to see the back of him, after last weeks game I can see why Madge wants to keep him...

source wide world of sport....

For Ben Hunt and you got yourself a deal

...kidding

Up until a couple weeks ago I would have said yes

But I really think we need him until we Atleast get Hastings...or maybe we could entice Hynes over early then

Hynes to leave a side with a shot at winning the premiership mid-season to come to us? Yeah, nah.

Well he even says he wants to be a starter every week. Full strength Melbourne he won’t get the chance

You’d be surprised how many kids would leave good systems just to get a crack at starting in the NRL .. Our very own Daine Laurie for example

As long as the dollars are right, let him go.
If they want him that bad then makes sure they pay full freight nxt year otherwise screw them.
Talau to 6 until Hastings gets here next year.
Use mbye dollars for cheese to play 13.

I was surprised that Brooks and Mbye worked as they are both primarily runners 1st ....but when you think of it ...it forces Brooks to run more ....I thought Douehi and Mbye might work .....but it was a no brainer that Mbye would work to some degree .....when he does play 6/7 his best game is far short of Brooks best game ..but his worst game is better than Brooks worst game at the moment

Hopefully the scare of seeing the heir apparent on the bench stuck a big enough bomb under Brooks to understand that this is his side ...take it by the balls ....and continue to play like he did in the 1st half ...run early and put the defence in two minds ...and everything on most occasions will look after itself ...but if Brooks has a shocker this weekend .....game on again

Laurie was 3rd string fullback and wouldn’t have even made the 17. Hynes leaving at the end of the year could come here at the right price. Not mid year, when he’s a regular in a top 4 side.

Forgot to add in my other post that we've told Moses that we'd pay up to 50% of his 800k salary.

"It would be hard to leave this club, but I really do want to test myself, be a starting player and be a key member in a spine.”

Hynes after the Saints game

If he could get a lucrative deal I’m sure he wouldn’t mind. He’s probably on peanuts atm

That would leave us with about a million for this year and options *but* would leave us really light in the backs. I'd still do it.

If the Dragons took on the entirety of his contract this year and at least half next year i'd honestly let him go. I know he played well last week but we do have options in the halves and one decent game doesnt make a season. We need to shift guys like him on these ridiculous contracts we may not have another golden chance like this. I would add on the proviso he didnt play against us in 2 weeks time, we all know how that could end.

I would be reluctant to let him go unless everything is in our favour...we have all spoken before how versatile Moses is to our team....many dislike him because of his huge salary, not his fault as we all know whose fault it is,but,on the weekend we saw just how well he plays in the halves and this is why Ivan bought him,to be a play maker, after Ivan cruelled us Moses was shoved from pillar to post....whatever happens I wish Mbye all the best in his future in the game....

All those pushing for Madden at 6 or 7 may well get their wish. Madge introduces Madden at 6 off the bench over the next few weeks until we play the Dragons, then releases Mbye to them after that. In the meantime Madden gets some practice at NRL.
The Dragons pay half his remaining salary this year (we have some room so can afford it) and $600K of next years. Take it or leave it!!

Wow. He has been putrid all season, had a decent game on the weekend and now we think he is suddenly a star. Anything to get him off the books, but like with any contract negotiation, only do it if the price is right and we get compensated.

I understand where you're coming from, and he is judged on his huge salary which as you point out isnt his fault Ivan and Pascoe to blame there. But if you have the chance to rid yourself of this bad contract and it means you take a bit of pain this year i think its worth it. We are hardly going to make a dent this year we all know its a write off. I hope with reguards to letting him go we are just playing a bit of brinksmanship to get them to take on a bit more of his salary. If he goes i wish him well then theres only Packer to see the back of

I say let him go.
Its the perfect opportunity to get rid
of a huge contract (thanx ivan).
If we have to pay half the freight then so be it.
It'll only be for the rest of this year and next year.
Keeping him will cost us more in the long run.

**St George Illawarra are in the market for a utility player but are unlikely to make a move for Wests Tigers player Moses Mbye.**

Dragons coach Anthony Griffin is understood to have met with Mbye last month after he was granted permission by the Tigers to speak with rival clubs for 2022, despite being under contract for one more season.

With hooker/lock Cameron McInnes ruled out for the season with a knee injury and a lack of depth in the centres, Griffin is keen to sign a utility player who can cover most positions in the backline and dummy half.

Another area of need is to recruit an experienced outside back for the remainder of the season after winger Jorden Pereira and second-rower Tyrell Fuimaono were forced to play in the centres in recent weeks.

Mbye has played fullback, centre, five-eighth and the role of bench utility for the Tigers this season and has previously filled in at hooker.

**However, discussions with the former Queensland Origin representative are believed to have stalled as the Dragons wanted Mbye this season and also baulked at his price tag if they were to sign him on a longer-term deal.**

Tigers coach Michael Maguire switched Mbye to five-eighth for last Friday night’s match against Newcastle and the move proved to be a masterstroke, with Adam Doueihi starring at centre and halfback Luke Brooks being heavily involved in the 36-18 defeat of Newcastle.

The Tigers are now just two points outside the top eight, while the Dragons face a test of character to hang on to sixth spot against Cronulla this weekend after losing four players – Josh McGuire, Tariq Sims, Tyrell Fuimaono and Mikaele Ravalawa – to suspension and fullback Matt Dufty with a shoulder injury.

**With former Manly and Sydney Roosters playmaker Jackson Hastings joining the Tigers next season, the club is willing to consider a release for Mbye but he remains a part of Maguire’s plans for this year.**

Dragons revive Beale's NRL career as Mbye chase cools.
Anthony Griffin has revived another former Bronco in the Red V, handing ex-Kiwi international Gerard Beale an NRL lifeline to reinforce the Dragons backline stocks.
