Moses or Austin?

With Teddy going down against the Raiders Potter has been left with the challenge of finding a new fullback for the rest of 2014.

The headache isn't really a bad one as he has two quality players to choose from.

Jy Hitchcox is another option though he isn't in the top 25 which means he is unlikely to get called up.

Austin filled in for Tedesco for 79 minutes against the Raiders and did a fantastic job considering the immense pressure he would have been under. The only worry I would have is whether or not he can handle the high ball, Soward out this week is an advantage as Penrith will be lacking their kicking game.

Moses is a youngster, has a good combination with Brooks and is great in attack. Played fullback before too.

who do you choose?

Normally I'd say Moses but with Robbie and Woods also out for Origin I don't really think débuting Moses is the world's greatest idea. I know changing things around isn't ideal but maybe stick with Austin for at least the Penrith game and then if Austin can't cut it give Moses a shot when Robbie's back.

It can't be a short term solution. We have to go with the safest option who won't cost us games

Brooks made his debut without Farah

I know (and I’m not trying to take anything away from Brooks here because his debut was fantastic) but that was against a 14th or 15th placed Dragon’s side in a game that wasn't potentially going to cost us a finals spot, with IIRC Simona and Tedesco both playing. Not to mention Brooks was playing in his preferred position, not a fill in one. Penrith are 2nd and don’t have anyone playing Origin, even if Soward is out.

Did anyone hear the comment in the press conference about Anasta playing at 1, which Potter didnt rule out either….. Not sure how he'd go - actually I have incling.... If that was the solution our coach took, you could then bring Moses in at 6\. Leave Austin as our utility bench player. That said, I still can't see Anasta at 1.

Id prefer to see Austin at 1, Moses at 6 and Anasta as the utility. But then who does all the talking with Farah out and Anasta on the bench?

Glad Im not the coach. That i do know.

Moses HAS to debut this week.

If our backline was ever so broken that we desperately needed need him to step in, then this is the week.

If there was ever an opportunity, this is it.

If there are doubters then let's at least settle the argument by trying him out. If he isn't good enough then so be it, but we will never know until we try.

Regarding the position, Austin did good last week so frankly I don't care which takes 5/8 or FB.

I didn't hear it?

Good luck to Anasta trying to chase down any break away.. Someone with real speed who can not only defend, but offer attacking options like Hayne & Slater.. Tedesco was great in the little time he has had.

Austin has that hunger in his game, I haven't seen Moses apart from that Origin 20's match, but I wouldn't mind seeing him debut preferably at #6 & Austin as the #1.

Without Farah, Woods,Tedesco ,Simona I'd be going with as much experience on the field as I could

At the moment we just need to take one match at a time

Lets see what happens v Penrith and make a call then

That really didn't work well when fitler tried it at the roosters… lasted one very very bad game

Heh, I was going to say the same thing, only I'd have said: Anasta was a shocking fullback even when he wasn't crap all round. Can't see the latter having a positive impact on the former…

That is being waaay overcautious. There is very little risk factor in blooding Moses. If he doesn't work out then what have we lost? Only a golden opportunity. Procrastination is opportunity's assassin. ~Victor Kiam.

We need a utility on the bench and I daresay I'd keep Austin there as he hasn't let us down in any position he has played this year. Moses and Brooks certainly know each other's game inside out and form a lethal combination. I'd probably lean slightly towards running Moses at fullback.

Teddy gone for 6 months

Moses to be named fullback, Woods is really supportive, said he would work well with Anasta and Brooks also said he has an old head for a young kid.
