nice try set up by suli here.

Yeah got nothin…. :unamused:

The first 10 seconds of commentary says it all "a fight to avoid last place on the ladder".
I don't judge rugby league talent by how well they go against the worst team in the last decade, i judge them against the best.
I understand he's got potential but so do 1000 other kids. I can't see him holding a centre position, i can't see a spot for him to be honest. He'll end up in the backrow/off the bench and be bog average until he leaves and goes to union.

He was also quite good against the Cows up in Townsville last year too in a win for us. They made the GF from memory?

There's a thread floating around here about the best and worst centres in the game.
Suli features highly

In the worst category.

In the worst category.

it was in relation to defence

stats huh…does it take into account those defended and the structure in place around him..ie M Moses..as well as our middle and edge defence being collapse regularly at the time..

Moses Suli released and joining Bulldogs

Did not see that coming. Wonder what is going on. Also he was on a hefty contract, amazing how the Dogs cap problem just vanished, James Graham must have been on two million a year!!! Speculation but I guess it must be off field issues, no wonder he had the longest ankle injury in history

So time to start speculating who will be no 29 and 30

Wests Tigers has released Moses Suli effective immediately with the support and understanding of his manager Mario Tartak.

CEO Justin Pascoe said it was a difficult decision but is satisfied it is the right one for the club.

“Moses is an exceptionally talented player. That’s why over the last 12 months our coaching and personal development staff have dedicated so much time and energy in supporting Moses with his challenges, both on and off the field."

Wests Tigers has been working closely with Moses’ manager Mario Tartak to reach today’s resolution.
Mr. Tartak said, “While it’s always disappointing to see player part ways with a club, the Wests Tigers have been completely transparent, professional and empathetic throughout this process.”

Mr. Pascoe said the decision was not made lightly and is about putting the club first.

“We are working really hard both on and off the field to build something special here at Wests Tigers. That includes building a culture and set of standards that cannot be compromised.

Mr. Pascoe said that while this has been a challenging period for the 19-year-old, his on field contribution will always be valued at the club and Wests Tigers wishes him the best of luck in the future.

“I am sure If he’s willing to take responsibility, be a team player and commit to the demands of being a professional athlete he has the potential to have a successful career in rugby league.”

Wow, we've released Suli due to poor attitude or off field indiscretions. That's a hige call on one of the most talented rookies going around. Particularly considering the state of our backline!

We had better have a replacement lined up already!

Another hugely promising junior gone :frowning:

I hope this means we are preparing to keep Marsters in the centers.

Why are the Dogs chasing Centers? Probably need a stable partner with Josh Morris and they have been missing Tim Lafai.

So under the same management he has gone from a young superstar worth a $1m + contract over a few years to being someone not worth keeping.

We better not be paying 1 cent of his contract at the dogs (maybe that is how it is under cap). If he goes on to be a very good player I think that the board need to have a look at Pascoe's future.

Guess Masters is a lock in for a centre position, with wingers Nofa and either Kev, MWZ, or Fonua and that is also about all the outside back options. So much for the depth we supposedly had.

Sounds like he wasn't meeting expectations or rules or orders from the team. Hopefully someone can confirm this but if this is true in my opinion we are better off without him

I like the idea of the club setting the bar high, and I am sure they probably have bent over backwards trying to get the kid on the straight and narrow, but when you have a kid like Suli on your books you have to maybe give him some time. I did not see the Chooks booting Jake Friend when he was in trouble every second week

Gone, signed with the Dogs for 3 years, effective immediately.

We signed him (without even a full game in the 20's behind him) for $1.3 million over three years …. a year later punted after having at least showed some of the hype was justified.
Was signed by Taylor, maybe Cleary doesn't rate him as highly - or he's been a very naughty boy.
From what I've seen and heard from him that would seem unlike him, but you never know.
Anyway - $400,000 odd now available for someone else.

$1.35m over three years he was on (it was reported when he signed). He was the 6th highest paid player we had on our books (I believe).

So now we have about $1m a year to spend on 2 players. We can buy a superstar of the top elite quality… we have the cash, and would be absolutely mad not to.

Or, save most of that cap, front-end load contracts, and next year do a Roosters in releasing Brooks and buy 3 absolute superstars like Cleary, RTS (?) and another player on about $1m. A strike centre perhaps?
