Bellamy and Hasler were after him, or were they pushing his price up to have a crack at one of our other off contract stars. We badly need a decent outside back with pace and size, so lets hope it works out.

@Benjirific said:Great to have a kid from within our system signed up - but when we continue to have salary cap issues, it's a bit rich of the current administration to simply blame the previous board prior to the independents. Farah aside, the issues we're experiencing now are a result of the people either in place now or directly previous to them (Mayer, Moss etc).
@fergiefurr said:The SMH article is a tad misleading. It's really a four year deal which doesn't sound as bad. As others have mentioned I'd say it's heavily incentive based. Anyways whatever we spent I suppose it's nice that we were able to beat out glamour clubs like the dogs and storm for an in demand kid.

x2 , we haven't learn't nothing with Brooks when he was touted as the next Johns :blah :blah :blah .
The bottom line is he is untried at NRL level and we are not a Club that can afford the luxury of spending such money for a kid who will most likely play lower Grades for the next 2 years .
Hope it all works out and that Harry came to the party with this signing :unamused:

What most impressed me with Suli is his defence on the right hand side of the field. The players around him have confidence in his ability to defend. For a young player, his composure impressed me as well as his willingness to take the hard hit ups close to our line. His size and pace speaks for itself but if ever a team needed a specialist right hand centre who is big, fast and can defend, it is WTs. Well done WTs Management.

We also don't have the luxury of investing nothing in junior development and just poaching the cream of other clubs' systems when they're ready to contribute.
The only way a club like ours can compete is to have a lot of young talent, correctly identify which players are going to make it and lock them up before bigger money lures them away.
I don't know whether this guy is going to be a gun at NRL level. But this kind of move is exactly what the club has to do. If we wait until he's a proven first grader we'll lose him, so we have to take a chance.
