CAREER

The Cowboys signed Moses Pangai from Wests Tigers where he played five games as a 16-year-old in the inaugural Toyota Cup competition in 2008.

He was instantly a hit in North Queensland being an ever-present in 2009 and ended a four-year career as an under-20s player with a grand final appearance and a match for the Junior Kangaroos at the end of the 2011 season. All up, Pangai played 73 NYC matches and scored 27, including one hat-trick.

Highlight: NYC Grand Final 2011
Favourite player of all time: Justin Hodges
Most respected opponent: Peter Mata'utia
Biggest lesson league has taught you: Team work

Wow that's unexpected. A good signing in my eyes. Big, fast, strong and has played NRL his whole life. The sort of impact forward we need imo. Hope he gets a crack. He was the youngest player to play NYC I think? Either him or Seijka.

He was a very highly touted prospect. I'm surprised he hasn't made inroads in first grade. Only one NRL match so far in Round 1, 2012 for the Cowboys.

I find it bizarre that we were able to sign Pangai but we didn't make a play for Tasi. Tasi would have been a great addition to our side. Pangai has a lot more upside though. A couple of years ago people thought he was a future rep star. Don't know what happened to him at Penrith.

Salary cap would be my guess.

Tasi quit Easts for a first grade opportunity elsewhere. Even with Kennedy going down, he was just too far down in the pecking order. We wouldn't have been able to accomodate him in first grade. Not with our 2013 salary cap bursting at the seams.

Pangai on the other hand, much like Paea, has been signed to play reserves. Notice how neither of them were trumpeted on the official WT website.

We seriously must be paying ZERO for him, otherwise, surely someone like Brooks would have been brought up.

UD presumably Panga is not top 25 or Brooks already is (I had thought that was why we cut Miller).

In any event Brooks should only be having a limited role in NRL this year.

Played junior reps with Woods & Jnr Rogica….I recall the name
Came from a gun Concord Burwood team that beat everything in its wake

Yeah I always kept an eye on Mosese when he was here. Perhaps because of his older brother?? I was surprised he left but I got the feeling the Cowboys simply thought higher of him at the time than we did. Interesting that we have bought him back. Obviously he's been signed to a NSW Cup contract but it will be worth watching him in the weeks ahead.

Not sure about that though. The article that announced his signing said he has gone to Wests Tigers and Danny Galea to Bulldogs NSW Cup. Specifically mentioning NSW cup only in the case of Galea.

Always good to see a local junior come back. He's got some size, but something must have been wrong for him to not have got a look in at first grade over the past 18 months.

Still he's only 20 and god knows we can use some big backrowers, rather than our usual small workaholics. We already have fulton, santi, sue and Lovett so a big boy like pangai could do the trick. nothing to lose by having him in nsw cup too, panthers are possibly even still paying some of his wages seeing he was only 6 months into a 2 year deal.
