Movie thread

out of those I've seen Jay and Silent Bob Strike back, and I loved it.

A couple of good comedies include

Van Wilder: Party Liaison - Probably my favorite movie, funnier than Hangover imo

Mystery Team - Hilarious, similar to Hangover and Superbad in that its a few guys doing a bunch of crazy stuff with hilarious results

Strange Days is a good one from 1996 starring Ralph Feinnes and Angela Basset, directed by Kathryn Bigelow who won an Oscar for The Hurt Locker. It's a clever concept and well directed film.

LA Confidential is another good film with great acting and good action.

mystery men is funny…a little corny but funny....

you cant go wrong with any of the movies i liste AHX and american psycho are brilliant films

basketball diaries is pretty much where it all began for leonardo dicaprio....again another brilliant movie i recommend these 3 movies to anyone who hasnt seen them

and yeah willow you cant go wrong with a ralph fiennes movie...great actor

Yeah I've seen all of those Ron and thumbs up for each!

Check out Funny Games with Tim Roth and Naomi Watts

An obscure movie that takes the cake is "The Usual Suspects".

It is a must see! Let me know what you think of it.

Some others include Heat, Crimson Tide, and a great comedy is "What About Bob".

Watched the movie "Precious" recently. Mo'Nique won best supporting actress at the 2010 Oscars. IMDB synopsis - "In Harlem, an overweight, illiterate teen who is pregnant with her second child is invited to enroll in an alternative school in hopes that her life can head in a new direction."

Very powerful movie and highly recommended.

American Beauty - Seriously one of the best movies of all time, perfect blend of drama and comedic relief. Kevin Spacey is amazing in this.

City of God - Incredible movie. It's Brazilian, so you'd need to be reading the subtitles, but probably the best foreign film I've seen. Shows what life is like in the slums outside Rio.

Inception - Go to the movies RIGHT NOW and see it. Mind blowing and extremely original

500 Days of Summer - Best rom/com you'll find, seeing as its from a guys perspective. Very experimentally made

Shutter Island - 2nd best movie released this year IMO (Inception was the best), very good psychological thriller

Se7en - I'm assuming alot of people have seen this, was made in the height of Brad Pitt's fame and its a totally different performance from him. Possibly one of the more disturbing films you'll watch (Lust and Sloth continually send chills down my spine).

Why don't you understand it?

Most of the movies mentioned here are pretty good but they are mostly all mainstream.

Here's a really good slasher that most have probably never heard of: Behind the Mask - the rise of Leslie Vernon.

bad boy bubby is a very disturbing australian movie….its not good yet its hard to walk away once you start watching it

Lots of main stream movies named here. All pretty good ones. I suggest you see:

* Splinter- a 2008 horror film starring Paulo Costanzo and Jill Wagner. I thought it was a polished film. Much better than your typical slasher type horror.
* The Square- a 2008 neo-noir Aussie thriller starring the Edgerton brothers, directed by Nash. It also has Claire van der Boom of Rush (Aussie drama on 10) and the war-series The Pacific.
* Repo Men- a 2010 science fiction action thriller with Jude Law and Forest Whitaker. Not sure if its been released here yet. I thought it was a good film.

Some great ones thee Danos, I've seen Brick, Dig, Leon, Oldboy and Rumblefish.

Out of those Oldboy is the best, it is a crazy film. The fight scene in the hallway with the hammer was brilliant and the ending…....

I'm a bit of a fan of asian (Japanese in particular,) cinema;

- Seven Samurai
- The Hidden Fortress (inspiration for the original Star Wars)
- Yojimbo
- Sanjuro
- The Grudge
- The Ring Trilogy (far scarier than the Hollywood knock offs)
- Volcano High
