haha Happy, those chipmunks movies look like complete garbage.

Just saw Real Steel with Hugh Jackman.
Where to start? It was bloody aweful!!!!! Whoever wrote this pile of crap was obviously a huge stallone fan because it is one half Over The Top - the armwrestling movie and the other half is Rocky. Every single cliche you can think of is in this film…this is the very definition of movie making by the numbers.
Jackman was pretty bad, everyone else was worse and the kid...what an annoying performance that was!

Kids may like it as they know no better but its probably too violent for the little ones. As for the adults, the fights are mildly entertaining but the story you have seen a thousand times and there are no real surprises or twists. Shocking effort. 2/10.

Stryker I have never been to a kids movie where I have never laughed once until this one The kids (who love the original chipmunk movie) were wanting to go home after 20 minutes

Hope the Muppets movie next week is better

Talking of the Muppets has anyone seen the music clips with the Muppets singing the latest songs Pretty amusing and if you have kids they will just about wet themselves when they watch
 
Well at least there's some light at the end of the tunnel this month with the world's hottest vampire in Kate Beckinsale making a much need return to the Underworld franchise :sunglasses:
 
If anyone wants to be emotionally violated - go and watch "The Watchmen"

Its one of the darkest "comic-book/superhero" type movies you will EVER EVER see. A masterpiece.
 
I know this was released last year, but has anyone seen Source Code? Watched it the other day… Interesting plot, albeit a little outside reality.
 
Go! are running the Rocky movies this week, i watched I & II the last 2 days, I reckon they are good movies, they are the kings of the Montage, and as the team america people say everyone love a Montage.

Today is 3, it is impossible to argue this movie is high quality, but I love it! and a little know fact, Wrestlemania 1 was partly an advert for Rocky III, looking forward to enjoying some cheesy crap, and this pales into comparison to tomorrows feast where Im going to enjoy Rocky fighting for the honour of his country by taking on Ivan Drago…...

Have to disagree on that one. I thought the film was underwhelming and did not really capture the essence of the comic series. The acting was decent, but the plot was too muddled and bogged the film down.
 
Interesting critique willow.

I probably should add a caveat - I went in watching it with ZERO knowledge of the comic series - effectively not knowing anything at all about the series. To watch something like that which was so different to any other movie in it's genre was simply breathtaking.

Since watching this movie I went out and researched the "lore" of the Watchmen universe, and I can say that your statement is a fair comment going by what the majority of literary fans of the series say - the only thing is, I can never re-watch it the first time again, and that is why it sits so favorably with me.

I suppose it comes down to the whole "Book better than movie" chestnut - however if you watch the movie(s) on its/their own (im looking at you Harry potter series) you tend to have a less critical eye of it.

I felt really annoyed by it CB. You go through groundhog day a thowsand times, then at the end your left saying well is this it? I just felt frustrated by it.

Generally I prefer films that entertain me, but occasionally I will go for substance over style. With Watchmen, I thought it would achieve both with ease, I was a fan of Zack Snyder's work with his Dawn of the Dead remake as well as 300 which had superb visuals. Visually Watchmen was good, and the acting was fine, but in comparison to the comic series, it just didn't hit the mark, mind you it was a very brave move to adapt that comic IMO, the characters were all complicated and I feel this in part led to the film being a bit cumbersome as Snyder tried to fit so much into the film, but therein lies the problem, the comics were deep and he would have been better splitting the film into two. I didn't mind the film, but yeah, it just missed the mark in comparison to the comics.

South African accent? She's an Israeli born Yank mate :laughing:

I recently watched with great delight the Ayrton Senna story.

really brought home some interesting facts.
how he was constantly battling against organisational/hierachy f-wits who were in charge of F1 during his time, and how other certain drivers, one in particular of F1 were given un deniable/blatant favourtism.

_even if you do not like motorsport, consider having a look at it._
 
It is a very good documentary.

However the bias against Prost was ludicrous in parts.

I was a huge fan of Senna, and still need to watch this.

I'm surprised there's large bias against Prost though. Contrary to popular belief, Senna liked and respected him.
 
one thing I did notice from the documentary, was at the end, when Ayrton Senna died, and a foundation was established in his name, to this day Prost is one of the ambassadors.
 
Saw another kiddies movie today Happy Feet 2 I must admit I quite enjoyed it Kids liked it as well Would recommend it if you have young uns
 
No way I'm going to see Happy Feet 2\. I hated the first one. It was so depressing.

In the meantime, I saw Midnight in Paris the other night. It was okay. Cute story but not a lot happens. I gave it 6/10.
