Hanging out to catch "J. Edgar".

Lately, DiCaprio has chosen to star in some great movies (Inception and Shutter Island) and I expect this to be no different.

Saw war horse…didnt think much of it to be honest. I know most love spielberg - I am not a fan.

Those two are some of my favourites. As I said, lately every movie he's been in has been great. Hopefully we see do different in "J. Edgar".

Anyone seen "the change-up". Watched it last night with the missus and we were both having some great laughs. One of the funniest movies I've seen for a while.

saw Hugo by Scorcese…pretty fine effort that one.

Saw an awesome movie last night - Apollo 18\. I only knew the basics of what it was about and was glued to the screen the entire time.

Watched Law Abiding Citizen again tonight….that movie is intense!

I think I really liked it because I didn't know what to expect.

Law abiding citizen = one of the best movies I have seen in recent years.

Can anyone let me know what "Chronicle" is like? Looks bloody fantastic.

that new film with the Rock sux. dont waste your money. i had no choice, i had to watch, ticket paid for, part of my job i guess. cant complain really, good for kids though. I think its called journey to mysterious island.

Just on law abiding citizen, what are people's opinions on the ending?
I don't know that it would of worked but I would of liked to see Clyde walk away the winner. I'm not normally a fan of Jamie Fox but he was quite good.

The movie that surprised me a bit was cowboys and aliens. Judging by the cover it looked like an absolute heap of crap, but I quite enjoyed it. I still don't understand Spielbergs crush on all things aliens though…

Law Abiding Citizen received scathing reviews from the critics when it came out. I thought it was ok without being great. A good DVD flick but I'm glad I did not see it on the big screen. Same applies for Cowboys and Aliens. I was a fan of John Favreau's work on Iron Man, but geez, for a film that cost $200 million, Cowboys was average at best. The action was run of the mill which disappointed given how much money they had to play with.

Slightly off topic but just thought I'd let forum users know a show I was a writer on is debuting on ABC 1 this Thursday 2nd Feb, 8.30pm,. It's a crime drama set in the Torres Strait and has a great cast including Firass Dirani from Underbelly and the Combination and Brian Cox from x-men etc. Check it out and tell us what you think.

Can't believe LAC copped average reviews. I loved the concept and the plot was fairly simple. One of those movies where your emotions betray you and you have an amount of empathy for the bad guy.

Watched the aussie movie Snowtown (bodies in the barrels) the other week
Pretty disturbing and really builds in intensity and gets under your skin.
Its a hard one to recommend because of the subject matter and a few graphic scenes but it is really well made and extremely well acted.
Similar to Animal Kingdom in a way so if you liked that this will be right up your alley.
Its one that will stay with you for a while after viewing it.

Saw this on the weekend. Great film. Not a kids movie at all. Anybody who loves homages to great cinema will love it. A bit of a mix between Cinema Paradiso and Amelie.

Thought that after the first 20mins this film was complete dribble. I love Jason Batemen but has made a lot of crapola in the last year or so.

Have seen a few interesting flicks recently that I can recommend if your looking for something outside of the mainstream, Stryker these might be right up your alley, or maybe not…

House Of The Devil, a bit of a throwback to old school horror flicks, the story is VERY simple, visually it has a real 80s aesthetic and a kind of slow burn pace that sets it far apart from the typical torture-porn flicks which are filling cineplexes these days. Bellflower, a really divisive film, I was discussing it with a group of friends and came to the conclusion that it splits audiences into three camps: either you hate it it with a passion, appreciate it on an technical level but still not like it, or love it. I was in the last group. Has a sincere DIY feel to it, the guy who wrote and directed it is also the star and also built the Road Warrior-esque Buick and flamethrower that feature in the flick. He also customised the one of a kind camera they shot it on. "You've never seen anything like it before" is a statement that gets hurled around a lot these days, but for this flick at least it holds true. Kind of heralds the arrival of a new filmmaking talent, reminded me a bit of Scorsese and Taxi Driver.

The Skin I Live In, this one is definitely not for everyone. I really liked it though. An outlandish drama with a lil' bit of sci-fi and subversive horror elements peppered in. The trailer for this one is a bit misleading, to be expected seeing as the film is a tough sell to audiences, but it gives a general idea of how far reaching the story is. A mate of mine described it as "thoroughly f'd up".. which has either positive or negative connotations, depending on your tastes.
