Mr Reliables

Just running a finger through the squad names there aren't too many players there that you would consider a Mr Reliable. Those players that no matter the situation are going to give there all and consistently do it week in week out. Unfortunately these are the only ones I can come up with. A bit scary when you compare to the likes of Melbourne.

Woods - a rookie
Fulton - experienced but not top class
Utai - 44 years old
Ryan - became another over the past 2 seasons … but gone
Ellis - gone
Farah - is the only other, probably number 1 in the squad for a few seasons some years ago, but his record of not closing out big games in recent seasons leaves him on the fence for mine.

Have I missed anyone?
Its one thing that really hurt in 2012 was the lack of consistent form. Hopefully with Potters influence and expectations we will see this list grow over the next 2 seasons.

I think you will be able to add Lawrence back to that list in 2013 since he will have had time to recover from his issues in 2012

Bell was very reliable but he's not a big name.

Not sure of his status at present but read he was talking to the Eels, although with the Folou deal I would imagine they would have major cap headaches. Really think it would be madness not to resign him if they have not already done so

I'm expecting a big year from Lawrence. Playing outside the same half and 5/8 combination, combined with playing back in the centres will do him the world of good.

Bell is staying with the Tigers for 2013.

I read today that Izzy's Parra deal is on the rocks

Pretty much nailed it there tooth.

I reckon we have 7 players out of our 17 that are pretty reliable and we know what we will get from them week in week out. Mind you we also have a few that we know what we will get each week in other aspects i.e. Benji - Extremely hot or extremely cold there is very little in between. Moltz - a couple of dropped balls, missed tackles and then a try from no where to gloss over the garbage he usually dishes out each week. Blair - Blouse. Galloway - for a guy that is 8 foot tall he is as soft as butter on top of Ayres rock, also very likely to pick up some sort of foot injury to rule him out for a few weeks.

Our Mr Reliable's -

2 - Utai - tough as nails, runs hard, always puts his hand up to run it out from our half, for a 4 foot nothing guy he can also hit pretty hard when he is fired up.
3 - Rowdy - Like Happy and Fraze23, I expect a big year from him this year after a shocking 2012, partly due to injuries and partly due to being moved a bit around the park by Mr Sheenious which brought about a huge lack of confidence. With a solid 6 and 7 pairing I can see 2013 being a purple year for Rowdy ala Origin and Aussie rep.
8 - Woods - He is now past the rookie tag and appears to be nearing Vet status with the way this guy plays. 2013 has rep season written all over it.
9 - Farah - enough said
12 - Anasta - A big game player that has been there and done that. A vet of the Nrl, in his 30's. He knows what to do and when to do it. When Farah, Benji and Miller loose their heads this guy will be out there to take it all on.
13 - Fulton - A true Mr reliable, he is not the flashiest player but he is as solid as it gets when it comes to defence. He is our version of a Hindmarsh. Just stick him on the park and watch him rack up 40 tackles a game. A perfect player to be on the pitch for 80mins and a type of player every team wants to have. (tackle machine)
15 - Bell - Just a true solid first grader, absolutely nothing stands out about this guy. I wouldnt even know him if i ran into him down at woolies and thats the way i like it. Just a straight up and down no B.S. player. No celeb status kind of player. He simply gets the ball he hits it up, they get the ball he chases it around the park. Solid player that plays the game cause he loves it and not for TV deals.
