Much Improvement

Despits how bad the doomsdayers on here think we are goig I had a look back this morning at our last 11 games last year with Potter and compared it to the first 11 this year

Last 11 2014
Points for - 159 points for v 191 point for in the first 11 this year = Attack has improved 20%
Points against last 11 last yr = 337 v only 215 this year = 38% improvement in defence
Games won = 3 last 11 last yr v 4 this year = 25% improvement in winning
Losses by 10 points or less last 11 last yr = 0 v 5 losses by 10 or less this yr

We aren't quite winning the close games but at least we are getting in the close games, our defence is significantly better then last yr and our attack is better then it was.

We need extra players for next year and we let go some players at the end of last yr to put the club in a better position for future years while knowing it would weaken 2015 - Blair,Takirangi, Thompson, Austin, Gavet

We need a 2nd centre with Simona, we need 2 new backrowers 1 starting right side and 1 bench and a new utility to replace den next year. My understanding is you will see those announced post round 13

We also need to get more experience in some of our young players and they are getting that

We are a much better side then end of last yr - better defence, more structure yes but thats ok for a young squad. Last night wasnt pretty but we only let in 1 try off an error in 79th minute.

We were held up over the line once, we dropped the ball over the line once and we dropped a ball with a gap in the line we prob would have scored once

We have made plenty of improvement this yr and will soon start winning the close ones. I expect us to finish about 10th this yr and then make the finals next yr

Good post.

Everyone wants to sack the coach, the players, the management, and the ball boys.
How can you unlearn behaviours that have been instilled in the players overnight.
If we are still going the same in 2 years, then maybe it might be time to reassess, but as they say, Rome wasn't built in a day

Potter had injuries Galore at the end of last year andd struggled to even field a team. Don't compare the last 11 games try looking at when he actually had a team on the park without 10 injuries to boot. Potters first half of the season compared to this first half is non comparable. Much better last year than this. Defence yes better but everything is is backwards

Except they were our last 11 games v the 11 before in the same competition just with different coaches and yes he had injuries last yr so that is another sign of the improvements taylor has made in keeping our top team on the field more often

You are comparing Taylor to Potter at a time when the players led by Robbie Farah had GIVEN up.

There is no doubt in my mind Taylor makes Potter look good.

Also what happened to we won't rush players back from injury?

Taylor is killing my forty year passion for rl. Talk about going down without a fight.

The devil is in the detail

Show us the teams that played those 11 rounds last year the injury list and also show the date that potter was basically told he was going.

At the end of this year it will be interesting to compare this years last 11 games verses last years last 11\. I would say that won't be such optimistic reading material.

I understand what Boonboon is saying, you can't just say "we had more injuries then" or "the team had given up", those things are not easily measured when making comparisons.

An alternative argument could be, by round 15 your team should be at peak fitness and cohesion, unlike the first few rounds, and therefore the run into the finals is actually the best measure of a team's true ability. Therefore the last 11 rounds of last year are very comparable, we should have been doing better having had the same coach for 1.5 years and playing for a spot in the 8.

Im sorry I couldn't disagree more. Last night was the lowest point I have experienced as a supporter. It was the most horrible, dour league experience of my life.

To me it is worse then the back to back 50-0 thrashings in 2004, the choke against the warriors in 2011, the 40-4 at halftime v souths in 2013, the disgusting end to the season last year. All those were highlights compared to last night.

In all my time as a supporter I have never seen a crowd as agitated as last night. 5 minutes to go, down 2-0 and we are taking 5 one out hit in a set. In the stands people were screaming 'what the hell is this?' 'Pass the bloody ball!'

To then have our coach come out after the last 3 losses and virtually say that he happy with how we are playing completely bemuses me. I have no idea what he is trying to do or why he thinks we working our way towards that will make us competitive.

It was embarrassing, the rest of the NRL supporters are laughing at us, we are a complete shambles.
