Mybe vs holmes

One more thing.

This so called average fullback, the one who was struggling and was nothing more than a winger….

Well he was an Origin player all the time you guys tried to make out he was struggling.
Remove the black, orange and white glasses the guy was always a class act.

Pretty happy with Mbye. Val is overrated now, everyone has jumped on the bandwagon pumping him up. As others have said, was quite average not long ago and it remains to be seen if he can exceed what he’s already doing, or even hold this form.

It's the same as Lincoln Lewis or Jerome Luai from Panthers - people want to call it after 5 or 6 matches, and that's exactly the type of nonsense that affected Brooks' reputation.

I know Val has been around, but really his good FB form is lucky to be 1.5 months old.

I don't get the point. He was struggling as a fullback. He had a dud 2017 season at the back and started the 2018 season poorly. It wasn't a short vein of poor form shown at fullback. He was an origin player on the wing, he was not (until very recently) any prospect of being selected at fullback for Queensland.

I'm glad he's come good, he's an exciting player to watch. It was though looking for a while there like he was not going to be much chop as a fullback.

The point is that when it was rumored we may be interested in him a few of us thought it would be a great signing. Many others told us he was nothing more than a winger. Check out his so called bad year highlights on Youtube, he was no bum at fullback.

You shouldnt bet against class.

A pointless thread. Is Mbye as good as a really good fullback at another club that is no chance of coming to the Tigers? Is Mbye as good as Holmes? Is he as good as Billy Slater? Is he better than Garry Jack or Andrew Leeds was?

Its pointless. Mbye is our fullback. He is 1000% better than the options we had previous and he makes our team better than it was without him. He seems to be improving as well.

That is all that matters.

I'm happy with Mbye as our fullback…he will develop nicely in 2019....will trun out to be a top 6 fullback....

I'll check back next season to see how long that lasts.

Yep, I'm happy with Mbye. I particularly like his ball playing skills. He adds a new dimension to our attack.

Point of thread is to point to some untapped potential. Mbye has only had a year in the fullback role over two clubs. He is an explosive runner, is safer and a better ball player than holmes. People saying holmes best player in Comp…..well let’s see how mbye goes next year I think he has great potential to improve.

He's infinitely better than Tui, so yeah I would say that I am.

We also seem to be a better team with him there, we've won 5/8 since he's been there. Scored three tries in that time and had a hand in a few more.

As for Val, well he's not coming here so there's no value in bothering discussing it for mine. 64 tries from 101 games says a bit though for his ability to find the line.

Two tries I remember from this year with Mbye the final pass to winger/centre. THAT has been the most exciting part of what I have seen so far from him.

2 different types of players. Holmes is that player that always scores tries and Mbye is just safe under the high ball and sets up more tries then he scores.
