Name Brooks at Hooker

Drop Luani back to NSW cup, then during the game let Fulton shift to hooker and Brooks to 1/2? Are we allowed to do that?

We would have to apply for another exemption for Brooks to play NRL again, as we are coming up against 1 finalist in Souths it won't be there but if the Cowboys fail to qualify there may be a chance that Brooks gets another run.

I think all things being equal Luke is probably best off playing out the year in NYC. It's great he got a taste of NRL but I'm not convinced a second game helps that much. In any case I think even the NRL have enough brains to see through the ruse suggested in the OP.

I think it would be poor PR regardless as it would be taking the piss out of the NRL who really quite graciously allowed Brooks & Brown to debut on exemption

Why not, play in a position that he's not familiar with and totally destroy his confidence. We all got a glimpse of what he's like and he got a massive boost of confidence, just let him go back to the 20's and have some patience for gods sake.

Have you ever lived a day in your life when you haven't whinged? :roll

Let him have his own opinion, you can debate it without tearing him down every single time he makes a comment.

Examples?

Id have had the same reaction with whoever started the thread. Why are people so keen to see this kid play in meaningless games that serve no purpose and out of position no less?

He's gonna play fg for the next 10 yrs, have some bloody patience

He would be playing half with 9 on his back, big whoop?

Curb your enthusiasm Milky, he's gonna be a staple in this side for a long time regardless. I don't know about anyone else but im happy with what i've seen and happy to let the anticipation reach fever pitch over summer, id hate to see him come out and turn in an absolute shocker against one the best teams in the comp, it would take a lot of mystique off the performance last week.

Positions dont come into it .finals qualifying does

I think now that brooks has had a taste of FG he is going to want to play it again so badly that he will be raring to go.

Being in finals contention played a part with Brooks, but positions do factor in for some cases.

For example Titans are probably about to get an exemption for their game against Roosters, positionally they are likely to be forced into picking a player in the same position ie. back for a back, forward for a forward.

Just on Brooks, can someone explain why he wasn't selected in the top 25 for this year to begin with?….

Especially considering Miller was always skating on thin ice and had never cemented his spot as a half-back?

We can complain all we like and we probably have a point that the current 2nd tier salary cap rule's a joke and needs to be reformed urgently, but the fact is WT always knew the rules and regs as well as Brooks' potential and Miller's volatility when the top 25 was selected at the end of last year, and our short-sightedness and lack of planning has got us fans up in arms once again....

They probably figured Anasta, Siro and Moltzen would have been enough to cover it if Miller didn't cut it. Remember Brooks would only have just turned 18 and hadn't even had a whole season in under 20s at that point as well. Sucks though, we definitely need him now.

Yeah you're right, that probably was their thinking which is pretty flawed anyway as everybody knew (except them) that Sirro is a back rower, Moltzen's just average wherever he plays and Anasta's just too slow and uncreative to play in the halves….

We had Miller, Moltzen, Sirro, Marshall, Anasta as halves options, and all of them were in the top 25\. 5 out of 25, that leaves very little wiggle room for outside backs and forwards.

Considering Brooks was coming out of SG Ball and off some serious injuries I would question any sane person to put him into the top 25 straight off the bat. The fact he has come along so well is a bonus, but not something we should have gambled on for 2013.

Not even on a base salary you wouldn't have had him? Didn't he train with FG for part of the pre-season anyway?

Its not money thats the issue, its that we only have 25 spots to use and cover for injury/form. We had 5 players who could cover the halves, carrying Brooks just wouldn't make sense at the beginning of the year.

It seems like a great idea now, but hindsight is always 20/20.
