Nathan Brown on Sterlo show

IIRC Nathan Brown did not even bother to be present at his interview in person, didn't he just have his interview over Skype or whatever whilst sitting in England? If that's the case and he couldn't be bothered fronting up to the board in person then that is disrespect on his part IMO. No great loss, how well did he go coaching the Dragons who had a far superior roster than what we currently have? Not flash.

agree totally. but then how many interviews would a professional rugby league player to coach have in their life compared to the majority?!

:laughing: he sounds like a kid just out of high school complaining he has to start at the bottom…

and although the tigers are going poorly, and taylor's cv at top level wasnt too impressive, like brown's, it is a how long is a piece of string question as to whether they would be doing better with him or not, so a silly thing for him (brown) to say if he did.

Jason Taylor was a man who really wanted to be an NRL coach.

Nathan Brown was a man that really wanted to be the coach of the Wests Tigers.

There is a difference there.

i dont think a skype interview (because you are in the UK) is any issue at all: i got my last job via skype interview (btw, they are awesome because what i did was had the window behind my computer screen pasted full of "cue cards" so i remembered everything i wanted to say!!).

he did rubbish at the dragons anyway and there is nothing to say he would be doing better or worse.

You're kidding yourself if you believe that Nathan Browns sole goal was to coach WT and nobody else…..he will grab whatever job gets thrown his way.

I think you will find he really wanted to move back to Australia and that was the only First Grade position available at the time. I don't think he has love for Wests Tigers above any other team other than the dragons.

The only thing he loved about us was being involved with teams that flogged us!

Nathan also said that Clubs should know what type of Coach they want not the other way round and approach the Coach in question ,,, as such he would not be calling the Knights…

Guess not to many have called Nathan over the years if the Wests Tigers job is the only one he's been interested in...

Interesting he said he didnt feel he was a good fit at the Knights as ''they need rebuilding'' or words to that effect.

But he thinks he'd be good for us, he wanted the job here…so he reckons we dont need re-building.

Probably not worth delving too deeply into...woulda coulda shoulda

I have seen him recently interviewed twice now, and I can clearly understand why he wasn't selected. He gives the impression of being laid back and everyones best mate. WT are trying to rebuild a business and they need professionalism and discipline, not a mate.

To suggest that he would have been able to perform better with the same cattle is laughable. No one can be successful with our current roster. I think Bennett at Newcastle proved that you require more than just a great coach and a million dollar backer....you need good players.

Taylor had all the data, the graphs and the spread sheets showing where we went wrong

There is nothing wrong with that, he did his preparationa and won the job.

Taylor was obviously better at the process then Brown. Taylor did his homework, you cant bag him for winning the job

However Brown is right. He can have all the data and all the talk, but he has not backed it up despite all the spin. Last is last and no one predicted we would be dead last.

Brown would have had them going better if only marginally in my opinion. However he is probably glad in hindsight he didnt get it with the mess were in. Taylor did not walk into the gold mine some lazy people in the media were predicting. Our roster was average at best and we lost players in the off season.
