Nathan Cleary

I think somewhere between 4-6m over 5 years. 6m/5years with get out clause and I would think it's a done deal. One thing for sure, we won't be paying overs for a marque player and we will have last crack imo.

Yeah, you can guarantee he’ll have a get out clause if he signs. Puts the club in a tricky situation as the they would want him to play his career here. But what if the time comes the club parts ways with his dad. Could cause long term problems.

Forsure, I'm betting Ivan wants to put his stamp on WT kinda like Bennett and Bellamy have done. He has been given control of the footy side and has achieved something none else has done before at WT. The day he took moses contract off the table was the day I became a believer.

He might see the signing of Nathan as a way to have leverage over the club. Not in a way that he would abuse, but if we sign Nathan and he has that clause, it will take a lot of courage to sack Dad. That could be in the back of Ivan’s mind.

No doubt. Pascoe is switched on and has proven to be our best signing in years. I think losing Pascoe could be our downfall. But you are right in thinking IC would have leverage. They need to produce but in saying that it won't take much of the next 5 years to be a success a WT considering our past run of outs. Probably 2 out of 5 years of semis would pass would you think?

Well as long as Justin doesn't allow another season to drift by ..we should be right..

Griffin is poison, wouldn't be surprised if Cleary wants out early either.

Griffin is a disgusting human being

Harsh statement Happy. Curious as to what draws you to that conclusion?
Griifin seems like a decent bloke, wouldn't take any crap from "new-age tossers" re Moylan and Cartwright so I can see why they were moved on TBH.
Gould would be a very imposing and prickly character to have overseeing your club, I'd say most of the seemingly player unrest at Penrith might have more to do with Gus than Griffin. If you got offside with Gus at Penrith your life would be pretty uncomfortable there.

Moylan, Cartwright and peachy next to leave the panthers. Hopefully it's all down hill for them. Also whispers Mansour wants out too. Not a good look on the coach or club admin imo.

With the Mansour issue, is it dissatisfaction with the Panthers or a case of a better offer from our favourite club?

Agreed. Gould would have the last say on hiring and firing. Moylan and Cartwright may not have been the best for team harmony. Perhaps the Panthers are simply positioning their team for the long term. There are a lot of talented young players and I'm sure Gould would be wise enough to ensure they are nurtured by the best NRL talent (on and off the field).

I'm not a naïve person at all and totally understand what you are saying GNR (and I'm not saying you are naïve either)but I just can't see IC's brain working that way.

He comes across as being a person of integrity and pride and I get the feeling that he wants his results to do the talking and not the leverage that he has over the club by using his son.

Looks like it's a money thing. Brent Read saying eels have put in a big offer for him.

Alexander saying he hopes to keep Cleary, but his dad is his dad, said he hopes Tigers go really poor this year so Nathan won't want to join his dad.
No mention of other teams stealing Nathan, think the pennies might be a tad concerned.

As well they should be. If we miss out on Cleary it won't be because of money and it won't be through lack of effort from the club. We need an upward trend with results on the field to make this happen IMO.

Griffin is a disgusting human being

This is why forums have a bad rap among NRL people

I've told the story before , just know I'll get accused of name dropping again

When he was sacked at the Broncos he took up a position at the CQ Capras

Jason Hetherington was the coach , I had known Hetherington for many years , when he first came down from the country he went to the Ipswich Jets and I met him through various friends I still had involved at the Jets

When Jason came back to CQ he ended up in Gladstone and our sons were in the same class at school

Long story short , the Capras weren't doing very well (crap roster )but Jason is a lovely bloke , typical country boy , loved by all

His wife unfortunately got diagnosed with breast cancer , so instead of sacking him , Griffin asked him to resign and say the reason was his wife to save the fallout that would become attached as it had just become public about his wife

He told a group of us this at the JH Cup

I don't know about you Ink , but that falls in the lowest of low categories for me , I hope rick with the silent P doesn't get within 1000 light years of our club

Explains your strong language. Probably best not to air that sort of stuff on a forum tbh. I have heard worse about JT but refrained irrespective of my dislike of him as our coach.
It does however provide insight into the roster changes at Penrith.
