Nathan Cleary

Brooks is fine by me, hard to set up attacking raids when you have players with limited attacking ability.

Last night they all looked flat and sadly that is what separates us from the very good sides, the really good sides can get the job done when they are off their game and we need everything to go right for us to get the job done

Brooks only runner did a hammy and was watching from the stand. Unlike most the others who were watching from the field.

Everyone in the side seems to want to be the ball player, no-one runs hard.

Brooks has no intention to leave and would take less than offered elsewhere to stay IMO..

When push comes to shove…money talks

By God the Sharks could use a player like Brooks, they were clueless last night when in attack

Yeh Brooks is so much better at setting up.the attack than Townsend, he showed last night he isnt even as good as Townsend

How do you think we’d be going if we replaced Brooks with Townsend at the start of this year?

Of course we keep Brooks

Put him behind a side that has some serious options in attack and he will kill it

But he wasn't good last night , he really needed to straighten our attack last night , when we did play more direct we looked dangerous

I only saw the start of last nights game but when the Bulldogs made their first break Brooks started to run down the bloke but pulled out of the race fairly quickly.

I got the feeling that his hamstrings aren’t the best either.

All I can say Happy about your last paragraph is it probably proves again that Brooks is no way a proper halfback. He couldn’t organise a chook raffle. I’ll take Nathan every day of the week.

If we do get him, we could possibly get him as early as next year!! Even tho Gould keeps saying he will let him go, if that's what he wants, I don't see him doing it without anything in return! Possible player swap? If so, I hope it's not brooks! but I don't see who else Gould would want

Certainly tearin Manly to pieces…

I’d say Gus knows he’s gone, so to paint himself as a a great guy, tells the world he wants to see Nathan play under Ivan. That way no can accuse him of being bitter. If only he kept Ivan. Ivan was screwed over big time at the Panthers. Oh well, it’s cost them Nathan.

I don't think fathers coaching sons in the top grade is a good idea. Most sons seem to want to make their own mark on the game without the assistance of their 'famous' dads. Has there been a precedent of a father coaching his son in the ARL/NRL? I can't think of any.

Hey welcome back Flip we missed you

Brooks has been one of our best and most consistent players all year but some peoples memory's last less than 7 days here.

I have no idea if it would work but I would love to see Nathan and Brooks play together but not sure how it would happen with Reynolds in the team/bench/hospital.

Yes I agree Brooks has been consistent with having absolutely no idea what to do in the red zone it has been happening for years time to move on and employ someone that can achieve consistency in that area . For a player that has played over 100 games and still as of last night can not at least do the basics of a half in the attacking zone ..time is up !

What should he be doing..seemed OK the two weeks prior..

He wasn't even that bad…and only one who really threatened to score or set someone up to score..lol

his short kicking was off found legs on another day like the majority of the year he gets better results...we had a lot worse performers than him last night..

People can't wait to stick the boot into the kid..

x2

So roosters out of the running with Robbo extending for four years…..

Broncos? Penrith? Or tigers for the Clearys?

My money is on tigers.
Danny Weidler’s Sunday SMH article seems to point to that outcome. Mentions also that decision will be made in next few weeks.

Weidler has no idea.
Hasn't Nathan said for ages now he isn't making a choice till his birthday in November?

I hope this is the case tho.
Brooks can play the background (#6) and let nate dawg run the ship.

I think this would suit Brooks. I did not see Nathan really take the lead during Origin, but he clearly is a better leader and owner then Brooks. Brooks has a great work rate and running game.

I have been thinking what to do with Reynolds. My preference would be to move him to Center and move Marsters into lock or in the second row. Naturally we may lose Mahe and he is on a 1 year contract.
The only other alternatives would be to loose Brooks or move Reynolds to hooker, I don't think that will work unless Reynolds really trains in the position.

I do not think that my comments are putting the boot in .. I have posted many times I think Brooks defence and long kicking game has improved heaps . The reality is once he gets into the red zone it all falls to pieces , I make no apologies for stating he is not what the team requires moving forward … I want a winning footy team and I do not think he is part of the equation that’s my opinion others see differently ,this is not an observation over a short period .

Maybe Brooks will go to Penrith and kill it with some talent and ball runners around him, rather than the gumbies he plays alongside at the moment

I think Brooks might be able to create some tries if he had Billy Kikau running off him, instead he has McQueen, Eisenhuth & Kev.

Im unfussed whether Ivan stays or goes as coach tbh.Id like him to stay, but its no dealbreaker as his defence structures have been a significant improvement, but offense coaching and recruitment have been both quite disappointing.Theres a truckload of equally qualified coaches waiting for a gig who simply stayed too long at their respective clubs
As for no 7,,Brooks is actually the more talented athlete but suspect he'll never outperform in a leadership role (which the position requires),whereas Nathan C may one day develop into a genuine game manager a little like Sterlo was
