Nathan Cleary

The Warriors have a good spine and are in the Top 8\. There doing well.

Teddy23 if you had 1 million in the kitty who do you get Klemmer or Cleary?

I personally belive your forward pack is the most important part of your squad, they hold so much importance in your team!

It's extremely hard to win a game of Rugby League when you're losing the ruck

Warriors spine is the best in the NRL and they're scraping the 8

Eels as much as I hate Moses, Gutherson, Norman and Hayne they're favourites to win the spoon

Manly have Turbo, DCE and Korosau and they're shocking

I'll reframe your question Eddie…. if I had a million dollars and had the option of Cleary and Tamololou?

I'd pick Tamololou 10 times out of 10

Taumololo would be about $1.2 mil to leave. Klemmer you could get for $1 mil. I think I’d rather Cleary.

Get Cleary first and watch the others follow him.

No doubt, but if I had to pick one for this club it would be Tamoulou easily

I would take Cleary.

A gun halfback for potentially a decade over a gun forward for me.

NQ let go of Ponga and have been slow and awful all year. Taumolol has played every game?

Thats a really bad example for me.

Cowboys haven't been awful bc of Taumololu tho

Can't really use Ponga for the reason of there slump he didn't even play for them when they won the comp I don't think

But they have been awful because they let go of their best player on their roster in Ponga? They have fallen off a cliff. Ponga will be the best player in the NRL in a couple of years. And Clearly will be in the Top 5\. In key positions !!!

If you want to shape a roster around paying 1 million dollars for forward over a gun halfback then fair enough.

Just ask how that went for the Bulldogs and look at the state of the NQ roster.

Of course you want good forwards but you dont pay them marquee money unless you already have a Salary Sombreo or a gun young spine.

Don't agree that Brooks should take a pay cut.

He dropped from 650 to 550 for this year. He is at least worth the 550 and maybe should go back up to 650\. Those figures would not be overs imo.

You can't say they're been awful cause Ponga left….

Bc they were good before Ponga even joined first grade

Sounds like they are taking the ethical road and wait until 2020.

The comment by ivan that gould made that statement in the past was interesting RE allowing release.

Ivan made out its 50 50 they will play together and defo waiting until Nov.

They did come 8th and went on a miracle run. They were hardly good last year. I thought their finals run was massively overblown.

They had a good roster, Thurston in his prime and Morgan and a good pack however the roster was ageing under their eyes.

Now their spine sucks and it doesn't matter how many metres Taumololo runs for each week.

You would trade Taumololo for Ponga in a heartbeat if you were NQ looking at their next 5 years.

Its like saying ill take a Great linebacker or wide receiver in the NFL over a quarterback. You get the blokes that touch the ball the most the most money. And you try and build around that.

Nathan Cleary is a must without Ivan we are no hope of getting a player if his quality. We can retain Brooks he may take less to stay with the Tigers and play with Cleary.
Reynolds is a great competitor but injured and overpaid. I’m sure if he’s fit next year a team will take him for 450k. It may cost us 300k to offload him but at the end of the day we are vastly improved.

We should have a ton of cap space for 2019 Tui, Sue, Grant, Siro, Kev, Marshall, MWZ and others would have to be over 1.5m in salaries.
We were also well under the cap by June 30 and assuming we front loaded a few.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we signed Cleary, extended brooks and Liddle, gave Farah another year and still had room for a strike centre, backrower and prop.

Both the Siro's.

Can Maloney come with..?

Oh and Kikau too..

Not sure about Maloney and Kikau but the smart money suggests a few forwards will follow in the next few years.

I think the Cleary's will rip Gus a new one and if Griffin remains the job will be made easier.

Ivan will feel like Vito Corleone if Nathan signs. You would assume Nathan will have a get out clause, and it will take a brave board and CEO to sack Ivan if it means potentially losing the NSW Origin halfback. He’ll make Sheens look like Potter in regards to power within the club. The Godfather of camp Concord.

Would love to have Nathan to come to the Tigers in a years.Gives us time to start to recruit the right players and have them in place before the Gun comes.

My problem if we pick up Cleary in 2019 , we won't be able to afford any quality forwards

If it was me , I'd be picking up forwards now and then wait for Cleary in 2020

And you don't think that Penrith aren't going to want some sort of compensation for Cleary for a 2019 changeover …...

Don't stick the cart before the horse , we have made these mistakes in the past , you can't win a premiership without a quality forward pack , no matter who your 1,6,7 or 9 is

We get cleary and we can attract some better players.

If Penrith want compensation, its not in the cap.

To be successful, sometimes you have to bite off all you can chew.

If we were the Roosters, we’d give Ivan a top up, seeing as how he’s exempt from the cap, with it really going to Nathan. Pretty full proof idea that.

I cant agree the pack is the most important part of your side.

Look at Canterbury the past few years. Have had decent forwards but god a awful spine.

Obviously you need a combination of both ideally.

However Ask me to spend close to a million on Klemmer or Cleary and I take Cleary every day of the week.

If we lose the guts most weeks , you lose a lot of football games

Of course you need a good mix , we are getting closer , but we still a least one backrower short that Brooks can go to in the redzone that can cause carnage and a bench prop / 13 that can get across the advantage line

Most of us are still agreed we are 3-4 players short

I'd rather have a forward pack ready to go when NC arrives , getting him a year early won't help , maximize the amounts of seasons he can take us to the promised land

And again Penrith are going to want player compensation as well as financial compensation , the players they might want are the players we need to keep

We require patience in regards to Cleary , wait until 2020 , get our line up right and reap the rewards :sign:
