Nathan Cleary

In regards to the Segeyaro rumour. I wouldn't think we would have offered him more than 2 years, so why should he care who the coach will be in 2021 when he might not even be here himself? Doesn't make sense.

Well he might care about who the coach will be in 2019 and 2020 and there are some in the media (Brent Read for example) making comments along the lines of "I'll be shocked if Ivan Cleary is coach of the Tigers in 2019". That would be enough to spook some.

Il be shocked if anyone discovers that Brent Read is really a real person,
He looks and sounds like a clone of a typical yank shock jock sports “ Reporter”.
Why would anyone worry about anything that someone like him thinks.
It’s just what gooses like him say to try to get the rumours rolling again.
When nothing’s happening.

You literally have zero concrete evidence to support the suggestion that recruitment is being hindered. We literally just signed two players in the last 4 weeks, one of them a very good prospect.

And if you heel to the media every time they generate a story you don't like, then it becomes the tail that wags the dog. No.

You do realise that Cleary did make a statement about his future, and guess what, the story is still around. How many statements does he need to make to bury it?

This definitely can’t be true

The mess at Wests Tigers has cost the club the prized signature of match-winning Cronulla hooker James Segeyaro.

I’m hearing that Segeyaro was all set to sign with the Tigers a couple of weeks ago - and would have been a great recruit for the club.

But the uncertainty over the future of coach Ivan Cleary at the time saw Segeyaro’s management baulk at the prospect of joining the club.

The Sharks star is now tossing up between the Bulldogs and the Knights, with Cronulla unlikely to keep him.

Other players have also doubtless taken a similar approach to Segayaro, steering clear of the Tigers.

Cleary has committed to the club for next season, but the way rugby league works, he could still end up at the Panthers.

And if he is not at Penrith in 2019, he will almost certainly be there in 2020.

I would think the Re-signing of Robbie Farah ended the interest in Segy myself..

You can believe the Lurker tho if you wish…

It’s not about believing it’s about the fact this is destabilising our club and will continue to do so until it’s shot down. The media is not letting this go and it’s all of them not just one or two. Anyone who thinks that players don’t read up on these things is living with the fairies.

X2

It’s no different to any other industry.

If you know that a company is a basket case why would you want to work there? And if you do go, you want to be sure you’ll be getting paid bloody well.

Perception is reality and uncertainty creates anxiety.

That’s the quote right there, “perception is reality” doesn’t matter what industry your in. We can’t just sit idle and wait for this to pass. We need to get on the front foot and get onto this. We don’t have the success, money or facilities that other teams have. We can’t afford to have uncertainty on top of that.

That's your view of him and it may be right but it doesn't mean that there aren't other people out there that think differently and buy into that sort of stuff. They wouldn't do it if people didn't buy in and there's no reason to think footballers wouldn't be among those that do.

Might be wrong, but isn't he the journo from The Australian that is the closest one to WT corridors of power?

Read is our media mouthpiece. I am sure our chair lady has a relatiosnhip with the Australian also.

Not sure if Dobbo is accurate on MMM but apparently said Bennett will be at the Tigers next year.

Nathan Cleary has "made his mind up" and will join Wests Tigers in 2020
A deal to bring Nathan Cleary to the Wests Tigers to unite with his father Ivan in 2020 is "done", according to The Australian's Brent Read.

He was dead wrong as were the Tigers. My take on this is the Tigers leaked this information and Penrith went in for the kill.

I remember that.
By August the 8th the following week.
Griffin was sacked
Nathan was staying
Ivan was heading to Penrith.

It’s possible Ready’s mail was correct at the time and Nathan was set to switch clubs due to the feeling around the coaching ranks at the time.
It’s also possible he may have been fed a tip to report it to escalate the series of events that soon followed.

Did Gus need convincing that Griffin was not working for the Panthers?
Did Nathan need to be informed that his union doesn’t only need to happen at the Tigers.

It’s interesting that in a space of a week things changed quickly.

Who knows, given the timeframe, could well have been the case from WT, of course, that would have them not knowing that Ivan was also meeting up with the panthers during that same week.

Others have had theor say and have commented that he was wrong, or it was bad information. Maybe just maybe Penrith upped their game and played the dad card.

Wow. That's a big call. Seems very unlikely to me, but Dobbo often has the early mail on Broncos stories.

That Brent Read story could very well have been fabricated and leaked by Gus. Gave him the opportunity to sway the board that they had to sack Griffin to turn things around. Then fed BS to Ivan that Wests had leaked the story that would have upset both Ivan and Nathan if it wasn't true. Then make a play for Ivan while he has doubts about Wests integrity.

Since when is perception reality? Please. As bad as "where there's smoke there's fire", for all the conspiracy theorists that have a weak argument.

Wrong! If a group of people perceive something to be true it becomes their reality. Psychology and Leadership 101\. Management and leadership teams all over the world are taught to ensure their message is told, told often and understood because if it is not, the perception becomes the adopted reality. Simples!

I hope it happens I like Wayne. He helped out years ago with a fundraiser we were doing for sick kids and couldn’t be a more down to earth bloke. The turnout was ridiculous because of him. His star has dimmed a bit but he’d come here with a point to prove and salary cap room.
