Every since I've known, national anthems were sung by the entire crowd like this but everyone just starts mumbling coz they don't know what the singer is going to do.

If you wanna do your own version, then sure go for it and do it in your concert but don't take away from the feel of the pre-game with extra ooooohhs and aaahhhs just so you can show off your vocal range.
