Neil begovich still a tiger

The answer would be no.

Playing in Group 6 this season. Chose business above league and good on him for it. Back playing with his mates

I agree… I always loved the way his engine worked and he reminded me alot of a little bulldozer from Qld at the same age (Webcke)...

I remember one day at Leichhardt he was given a rest. Within 5-7 minutes, we dropped a few balls, lost momentum, and Neil just gets up and goes "for F#@% sake", grabs an interchange number out of the folder and heads to the NRL Official...

Was hoping to see him in the Top Grade, and always felt he was ahead of Groat. Oh well... not to be :frowning:

Dont agree with this at all. Top talent who could have gone a long way. But it looks like he took the lazy option. I reckon he will regret this decision in years to come.

His construction business made over 100k in the first year. whats to say he doesnt earn more in the next few years than he could have earned not guaranteed to play in the NRL. dont be surprised though if we have a string of injuries he gets a call to return ala skando a few years ago

what a load of crap! the bloke has an excellent business that is going well and has made a smart life choice.

there is only 375 full time players in the entire country. Many of which are contracted for 3 years or less.

I know alot of blokes that play on the fringes or just miss out, and get to their mid 20's and have to start life, with little or no job experience, they struggle, and despite what you think footy players dont make the huge dollars you think.

If he chose to chase his dream to play NRL, good luck to him, but he didn't he chose to follow a path into business, in itself a hard choice.

I had high hopes for Bergovich but he has chosen a different path and wish him luck

From one tradie to another, I hope his business kills it and it all works out for him. Obviously his business was a bigger passion than his football.

I find it remarkable that someone who is 20 is running a successful business and expanding. I'm behind you all the way Neil, forge the career you want.

Good luck with all your endeavors Neil. Your a champion bloke.

New Signing
12-01-2012
Camden are pleased to announce the signing of Neil Begovich.

A big Front Rower, he has also spent the past 2 years with the West Tigers under 20's. The club is extremely pleased with his return. Neil will be an instrumental part of Camden's go forward in 2012.

Being a chippie isn't the laziest occupation.

Chris I am not using lazy in that sense of the word. Its obviously very impressive that he has a successful business. However, there is no doubt the kid wanted to make a go of footy otherwise why would we have invested so much over the past two years.

Going back to play footy with mates just seems like an easy option.

I reckon over the next 20 years Neil will look back on this decision with regret.

This is all prefaced on my understanding that the club held him in very high regard given they resigned him for this year last year.

I am bit surprised that Moltzen got bashed by all on here for reneging in his deal with Saints but Niel is applauded for reneging on his deal with the Tigers. One wonders whether the club would have tried harder to keep Fifita if it was known that Begovich wouldnt be here this year.

Without a doubt one of the stupidest comments I've seen on this forum…. and you blokes do set a pretty high bar in that regard.

Good luck to the bloke, he has a good business & he is trying to make it even better. Nothing to say he wont come back to us @ a later date.

Said the guy with 22 posts.

How about you throw your hat into the ring and contribute to the discussion instead of taking pot shots at others from the sideline, yeah?

x2\. Grow up and take the cheap shots elsewhere. Southerntigers opinion carries no more or no less weight than anyone else's on here.

I always thought Begovich was the better of our two young props, and was surprised when Groat got graded and not Begovich.

Maybe this explains why.

That is a very interesting point Southern Tiger.

I always thought the same but its really up to what Sheens thinks.
Groaty went better in NRL than NYC so did BMM for that matter.

Damn, I was waiting for the uplifting twist in this thread; you know the happily ever after bitdown at about post 6 where the voice of authority says … _"Nah, Begovich is signed until 2015 you're confusing him with Barry Begovich who's a CBA teller and plays a bit of wing/fullback when the knees not giving him jip"._
To avoid undue hope I think it should be re-titled
**"Begovich NOT still a tiger"**
Sad to see him go.
